EPAWorking Hours: New Work Group Leader and Members Needed

The Working Hours Work Group requires a leader. Contact Grant Feichtinger if you are interested in the position. Additional work group members are also needed.

Excessive working hours is the number-one issue of EICC Code non-compliance. In addition, the media attention on this issue has increased. All EICC members who face working hour challenges in their operations or supply chains should consider joining the work group.

VAPVAP Webinar: Recording Available

The VAP Work Group has developed a new "Single Payer" Validated Audit Process (VAP) to allow companies to self-nominate for a validated audit. A webinar to explain the new model has been recorded for companies that will participate in the program. Click here to access the recording.

The work group also developed an "Auditee Documents" package to help companies request and prepare for an audit. The package can be found on the EICC website "Tools" page, and includes:

  • Overview--An introduction to the VAP and the EICC Code of Conduct.
  • Preparation--An audit preparation checklist and Self Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ).
  • Agreements--An exchange of confidential information agreement (AECI), purchase agreement, and a VAP Facility Information Sheet.

trainingRegister for Training Session: "How to Conduct an Energy Assessment at an Industrial Facility"

A short training session on energy management and conducting energy assessments will be offered on August 26 from 8 AM-12 Noon at the Crowne Plaza Shenzhen. The training will be in Mandarin, and is open to EICC members and member suppliers.

Presentations will focus on the processes, procedures, and protocols of industrial energy assessments. This will include the concept of "industrial triage" when evaluating energy use and reduction, as well as "rules-of-thumb" and insights on how to move an energy project forward in the current industrial economic climate. The training will also cover some of the tools available on the Department of Energy website, as well as possible incentives in China for energy efficiency.

Click here for the bio of the instructor, Dr. ShyShenq Liou. EICC Members and member suppliers are encouraged to send two local representatives to the training. Register for the training here. Presentation slides in both Mandarin and English will be distributed by email to training registrants in advance, and will be available for download after the session.
