BoardBoard Action

The Board took the following action this week:

  • Asia Program Task Force: Approved development of a task force to collect information on societal and other issues relating to suicide.
  • Extractives: Reviewed progress on the Tantalum Supply Chain project.

achillesAsia Task Forces: Register Now!

The EICC Asia Program will establish two new task forces to address specific issues in the region. EICC members should register as soon as possible to participate.

  • Employee Health & Welfare Task Force: As large employers in Asia, EICC members are concerned about workplace suicide in the region. The Asia Program will establish a task force to understand societal and other factors that contribute to suicide. The task force will identify experts in the region who may help the industry develop a better understanding of the unique challenges for employers and employees. It will also identify resources outside the industry, such as service organizations and government agencies, that may be able to collaborate with the task force. Companies should contact Brad Cameron to register their Asia-based personnel.

  • Environment Task Force: EICC members are also concerned about important environmental issues in Asia. The Asia Program will establish a task force to focus on pollution and environmental sustainability in the region, with particular focus on southern China. Companies are asked to designate Asia-based personnel for the task force who have responsibility in their companies for environmental compliance or environmental sustainability practices. Contact Brad Cameron to register.

Our goal is to form the task forces right away, and to develop preliminary reports that can be presented to the membership at the August 24-26 meeting in Shenzhen.
