guadalajaraEICC Membership Meeting Report

EICC held a membership meeting April 27-28 in Guadalajara. Mexico. The meeting was attended by 37 members who represented 17 EICC companies. The meeting included an all-day session on April 28 with 13 local organizations, including labor unions, NGOs, and government officials. It was followed by a training session on April 29 with local suppliers.

Notes from the membership session on April 27 are provided here. Presentations from the meeting are provided here. Highlights from the meeting include:

  • Financial Overview: 100% of EICC members re-joined the association and have paid their 2010 dues. A number of new members are also expected to pay their dues soon. This has allowed EICC to increase its budget over 2009 levels. As a result, priority projects will be funded, including the Worker Communications Training initiative, Asia Program Phase II, and VAP Benchmarking.
  • Membership Growth: Six new members have joined EICC in the past few months. A number of others are considering membership.
  • Labor Trends in China: Richard Wong (Flextronics) presented information about labor trends in China and their implications for the electronics industry.
  • Membership Compliance Program: Members will vote in June on adoption of the new compliance program. A timeline for informational webinars and other important events is provided in the notes.
  • VAP: Updates were provided on the current audit cycle, the auditor training program, and the new "auditee pays" model. Mike Vaudreuil (HP) also presented the new VAP Corrective Action Management Program (VACAP), and updated members on the Progress Recognition Program for non-member facilities.
  • Next Membership Meeting: It was announced that the next meeting will be held August 24-26 in China.

EICC appreciates the efforts of Julio Aceveda and Iliana Ponce of HP, and Juan Carlos Martinez of IBM for their help with the meeting.  A feedback survey for the membership meeting will be sent to the meeting registrants this week.  Contact Carrie Hoffman for more information.
