BoardBoard Report

The Board reviewed progress reports this week on:

  • Extractives Work Group: Approved 2010 goals for the Work Group, which include:
    1. Develop a smelter auditing process to validate conflict-free minerals.
    2. Support development of a verifiable sourcing scheme for conflict free minerals from the DRC and neighboring countries.
    3. Communicate with stakeholders on positions and initiatives related to metals derived from "conflict" minerals.
  • Compliance Program: Approved a plan to submit the EICC Membership Compliance Program to members for approval. The plan includes webinars (see below) to inform members of the new requirements, to be followed by a vote of all members to adopt the program
  • Membership Meeting: Reviewed final plans for the April 27-29 meeting in Guadalajara, Mexico. Registration information is provided below.

Webinars have been scheduled to inform EICC members about the new Membership Compliance Program.  The webinars will provide members with information they will need to vote on adoption of the program.

elearninge-Learning Course Available: Last Chance to Register for the Training Webinar

Two e-Learning training courses are available for EICC companies and their suppliers. The course are Corporate Responsibility for Supply Chain Management and Corporate Responsibility for Supplier Management. Access the courses as follows:

  • Launch from the EICC LMS website: Companies must email eicclms.support@servitium.com with the name and email address for their company administrator who can approve access for suppliers.
  • Download from SharePoint: Companies may download LMS-ready SCORM files or stand-alone ZIP files. To launch the course from the ZIP files, be sure to first save the ZIP packages on a local hard drive, and then extract the files to a folder. The course will not launch directly from the zip package.

The Learning & Capability Building Work Group will host a webinar on April 13 (6:00 PM PST) to discuss the courses, and to provide instructions for downloading and accessing the files. Register for the webinar by clicking on the webinar date.  Please note that the webinar has been moved to April 13 at 6 PM PST.

v2E-TASC V2.0 RFP Work Group: Last Chance to Volunteer

There is still time to volunteer for the EICC V2.0 RFP Work Group. Contact Laurie Howard by April 14 if you want to join.

The Work Group will identify the best provider for the association's proprietary next-generation supply chain database. The group will operate in parallel with the existing E-TASC V1.7 Work Group (the V1.7 version is scheduled for launch in July).

EICC members, including any personnel in member companies with expertise in IT systems and other critical skills, are encouraged to volunteer. A description of skills needed by the work group and other information is available here. Work group members should be able to commit 6-8 hours per week on the project through mid-August.

guadalajaraRegistration Information for Guadalajara Membership Meeting

The next EICC membership meeting will be held April 27-29 in Guadalajara, Mexico. Members are encouraged to register immediately. Please note that work groups will meet on their own. The updated meeting agenda is available here and includes:

  • April 28: Stakeholder Event and One-on-One meetings
  • April 29: Supplier Training

The event will take place at the Hotel Presidente Intercontinental. The negotiated rate is $116 per night, and includes breakfast & lunch during the EICC event. If you are not staying in the EICC room block, EICC will be required to cover the cost of breakfast and lunch.
