About the Educational Sessions
How to Conduct an Assessment at an Industrial Facility
This short training session is intended to be an overview of energy management and conducting energy assessments. While portions of it are technical in nature, the presentation will focus on the processes, procedures, and protocols of industrial energy assessments. Dr. Michael R. Muller and Mr. Donald Kasten have conducted hundreds of industrial energy assessments and will present their concept of the "industrial triage" when evaluating energy use and reduction. Included will be many rules-of-thumb and insights on how to move an energy project forward in the current industrial economic climate.
Precarious Workers
This session will create a common understanding of what is meant by "precarious workers" and the issues associated with this segment of the workforce. By the end of the session attendees will have an increased awareness of how precarious workers are defined, the key global trends and drivers in the workforce that are affecting this segment of workers, and the implications based on the Code of Conduct. This session will include useful background information and data for member companies, including case studies by members on their work in this area. BSR and As You Sow will also be participating to give overviews and stakeholder viewpoints of this topic.

Annual Report: Member Information Required
EICC will produce its second Annual Report in 2010 to provide an update on the association's activities. The report will focus on progress to meet the association's goals, which are to: (1) Increase awareness of the EICC Code of Conduct; (2) Increase adoption of the Code, and; (3) Ensure conformance to the Code. The report will also include case studies to explain how EICC members apply the Code, and how they use EICC tools and training in their supply chain activities. The following assistance is requested:
- Survey: Primary contacts will receive a survey form next week. The form should be used to provide information for the Annual Report. All companies are required to return a completed form.
- Case Studies: We need case studies from all EICC members! Help us report on the following:
- How your company uses the EICC audit checklist and other audit tools.
- How you use the RA1 to identify suppliers for assessment.
- How you use E-TASC to track your supply chain activities.
- How you educate suppliers and staff about the EICC Code and tools.
Contact Betsy Fargo to provide information or suggest a case study.

Learning & Capability Building Work Group: Co-Leader Needed
The LCB Work Group seeks a co-leader. The group develops training materials and events for EICC members and their suppliers. The position requires a small commitment of time to develop meeting agendas and participate on weekly calls. No background in training is required. This is a great position for any company representative who is looking for a way to participate in EICC. Contact Jannie Bailey for more information.
