Tantalum Supply Workshop: Update
The Nov. 17 EICC-GeSI Tantalum Supply Workshop in Redmond, WA was attended by 50 representatives of the electronics industry tantalum supply chain. The workshop included presentations and discussions on the need to improve transparency in the supply chain.
Workshop attendees agreed to develop a certification process to trace tantalum supplies, and to ensure that "conflict minerals" are not introduced into products produced by the electronics industry. The attendees also formed sub-teams to focus on specific issues associated with the initiative, and agreed to reconvene in March. A specific date and location for the meeting has not been established.
The presentations and notes from the meeting will be provided in the next Bulletin. Contact Brad Cameron if you have questions or want additional information.
