"Conflict" Minerals: Important Meetings for EICC Members
EICC members are committed to eliminate conflict minerals from their supply chains. As a result, new EICC initiatives are underway to help members identify the sources of this problem and collaborate to find solutions:
- Oct. 20 BSR Conference: A number of EICC and GeSI companies are sponsoring a forum in San Francisco on October 20, 2009 to address the issue of conflict minerals. Dell, HP, Intel, Motorola, and Philips will host the meeting from 1:30-6 PM in conjunction with the BSR conference at the Hyatt Regency Embarcadero (at 5 Embarcadero Center). The meeting will focus on a multi-industry approach to remove conflict minerals from supply chains. Contact Jessica Hyman of BSR to attend the conference.
- Nov. 17 EICC-GeSI Tantalum Supply Conference: EICC and GeSI hosted a meeting on Sep. 17 to focus on the problem of conflict minerals in the supply chain for tantalum. More than 50 companies participated in the meeting. A second meeting will be held in Redmond, WA on Nov. 17, 2009 to identify approaches the industry can take to address the problem. An invitation to the meeting was sent yesterday to EICC members and tantalum suppliers. Contact Grant Feichtinger if you are interested in attending.
