In This Issue

TantalumTantalum Supply Conference: Nov. 17

EICC and GeSI will host a conference November 17 in Redmond, WA for members and Tantalum suppliers. The conference follows an organizational meeting held in Chandler, AZ on Sep. 17 to discuss challenges related to tracking and tracing tantalum through the ICT supply chain.

The next meeting is intended to identify tracking and tracing approaches used by other industries to avoid use of "conflict" minerals. Meeting participants will also identify a preferred approach for the ICT industry.

Contact Brad Cameron if you have questions or want to attend the meeting.

BSRBSR Conference in San Francisco: Opportunity to Meet with NGOs

A number of NGOs and audit firms have inquired about meeting with EICC during the BSR conference in San Francisco (week of Oct. 19). John Gabriel will coordinate any meetings that are scheduled. Send an email to Grant Feichtinger if you plan to attend the conference and can participate in a meeting.

ETASCCommodity Manager e-Learning Course Available

The EICC Commodity Manager e-learning course is updated and now available to all EICC and GeSI members. Visit the website at http://downloads.servitium.com/Abhey/EICC/Commodity_Manager_Release_30Sep2009.zip (96 MB) to download a copy of the course.

Here are instructions to launch the course:

  1. Click on the "extract to folder" option on the website.
  2. You will find two sub-folders in the extracted folder:
    • SCORM: For uploading to your company's internal training system
    • Standalone: To view the course on your desktop
  3. Each sub-folder contains the HBW, LBW, and Chinese versions. These versions are also hosted online at http://eicc.servitium.com.

For Internet Explorer users:

  • Recent changes provide a header bar in Internet Explorer with the path to the file.
  • The training has not been designed to accommodate this bar, and IE users may experience problems with the navigation buttons.
  • If so, please use F11 to view the course until there is an alternative solution available from Microsoft for this new feature.

To upload the course to your own company system:

  • Use the SCORM version to upload.
  • The course will remain online at http://eicc.servitium.com until May 2010.
  • Provide your company training administrator's contact information to Grant Feichtinger to get your company account set up.
