Tantalum Supply Work Group
The EICC Board approved development of an Issue Management program to address important issues that affect the ICT industry. An overview of the program was presented at the membership meeting on Sep. 16. An emerging issue for the industry is the importance of tracking tantalum and other minerals through the electronics industry supply chain.
The Extractives work group is coordinating research on this issue to identify challenges associated with tracking and tracing the movement of minerals. The work group also hosted a meeting of Tantalum suppliers on Sep. 17 in Chandler, AZ to expand the industry's efforts on the issue. The meeting included 52 participants from virtually every stage of the supply chain. A media release about the meeting is provided here.
The meeting resulted in development of a Tantalum Supplier Work Group that includes EICC and GeSI members, as well as suppliers. The group will meet again on Nov. 17. Contact Brad Cameron if you want to attend the meeting.
