BoardBoard Actions This Week

The Board took the following action this week:
  • E-TASC: Reviewed criteria that will be used to rank potential suppliers if a decision is made to proceed with an RFP for development of E-TASC version 2.0.
  • VAP: Received an update on the current Validated Audit Process cycle. 17 of 18 VAP contracts with EICC companies have been completed, and Phylmar (vendor) is preparing a cross-matrix supplier list.
  • Membership Compliance: Received an update on membership requirements listed in the EICC bylaws and other materials. The Board will revise the membership requirements and establish a new compliance process.

LCBRequest for Health & Safety Training Materials

The Learning & Capability Building Work Group will develop a health and safety training program for suppliers. The work group used information from the recent EICC pilot audits to identify priority training needs, which include: Occupational Safety, Machine Guarding, Emergency Response, Hazardous Materials, and Industrial Hygiene Controls. The work group is requesting that EICC members provide samples of materials their companies use for training in these areas. Help EICC get this program underway by sending materials to Grant Feichtinger by Friday, Sept 11. Contact Grant for more information.

MembershipMeetingMembership Meeting: Important Information

60 EICC members from 33 companies have registered to attend the September 16-17 membership meeting in Chandler, AZ. All members should carefully review the following important information:

  • Webinar: A webinar will be available for members who cannot attend the Sep. 16 presentation by Tom Hayes of the Brussels European Employee Relations Consultants (BEERG). The webinar will begin at 10:45 AM PST. Contact Carrie Hoffman to register for the webinar.
  • Shuttle to Sep. 16 Dinner: EICC will provide shuttle transportation to the membership dinner from each of the recommended hotels (below). Register with Carrie Hoffman if you intend to use the shuttle.
  • ILO Presentation: HR personnel in EICC companies are invited to attend the presentation on Sep. 17 by the International Labor Organization. Contact Carrie Hoffman to register personnel in your company who wish to attend, or if they prefer to attend via webinar or conference call.
  • Extractives Meeting with Tantalum Suppliers: The Extractives Work Group will host a meeting on Sep. 17 with Tantalum suppliers to discuss critical emerging issues. The meeting will provide all EICC companies with an opportunity to understand challenges that prevent greater transparency in the supply chain, and to identify collective efforts that can be taken to improve the situation. EICC members must register in advance to attend the meeting (this is separate from the general meeting registration). The meeting is open to non-EICC members by invitation only. Members must also indicate if they intend to attend the dinner that will be hosted by Dell after the meeting. Contact Grant Feichtinger to register for the meeting and dinner.
