BoardBoard Actions This Week

The Board took the following action this week:
  • New Member: Voted to approve the membership application submitted by Cabot Corp.
  • E-TASC: Completed a comprehensive review of the processes in place to develop E-TASC 1.5, and to begin work on E-TASC 2.0.

Contribute to Important EICC Initiatives

The continued success of EICC depends on contributions from every member.  Please consider how you can help the following initiatives:

  • BetaSupplier Management eLearning Module Available: A beta version of the Supplier Management eLearning module will be available on July 24. The L&CB work group requests that all EICC members review the module and provide feedback. This will be your last opportunity to respond. EICC staff will provide a link to the module via email Friday.
  • GHGDeadline Extension for Carbon Reporting System: The deadline to participate in the Carbon Reporting System is extended to August 31, 2009. The change is intended to maximize participation in the EICC effort to track the industry's carbon footprint. Please email ghgsupport@bsr.org for more information.
  • CoLeadStakeholders and Communication Work Group: The work group needs a co-leader. The position requires communications experience and a small commitment of time each week.  This is a great position for any company representative who is looking for a way to participate in EICC.  Contact Marcy Lynn if you are interested in the position.
  • AsiaAsia Network: A new Asia Work Group will be formed to help plan EICC initiatives in Asia.  The work group will host a meeting Aug. 5 in Shenzhen, China for all Asia Network members.  Contact Brad Cameron if you want to attend the meeting.

makeITfairNotes Available from MakeITFair Event

Several EICC members participated in the MakeITFair event in Amsterdam to discuss CSR issues. The May event included SOMO, GoodElectronics, and trade unions. EICC prepared a summary of the meeting notes here. Full notes provided by the NGOs, including their recommendations, are provided here.

The Communication and Stakeholders Work Group will request feedback from EICC work groups on the NGO recommendations. Contact Grant Feichtinger for more information.

QuestionsInput Needed for ILO Presentation in September

The September membership meeting in Chandler, AZ will include presentations by the International Labor Organization (ILO) during the stakeholder engagement event on Sep. 17. EICC is developing questions for the ILO to address at the half-day session. Members are encouraged to inform their Human Resources departments about the session, and obtain HR input on the questions EICC will submit. HR personnel are also invited to join the event in person or by phone.

The draft agenda and EICC questions can be viewed here. Please submit additional questions to Kate Cacciatore by Friday, July 31.
