VAPLast Chance to Participate in the Validated Audit Process

The Validated Audit Work Group released the VAP Service Level Quality Statement this week. The document is available here. The VAP 2009 China cycle is underway and 16 companies are participating. Your company can still participate if you act fast! Please note these critical dates:

  2. Please work with the audit program manager (APM) if you are just getting started to establish a completion date.
  3. The master audit list was distributed to EICC primary contacts and is posted here. Please review the instructions and use this file to submit sites for the VAP selection process. Send your submissions to audits@eicc.info by May 29. You should complete the AECI/Non disclosure agreement prior to submitting your list of auditees.

NominationsEICC Board Nominations Due June 1

Nominations for the four new Board positions are due by 5 PM EST on June 1. While several members have expressed interest in the positions, we have only received a single nomination form so far. Forms are available here.

EICC is at an exciting and critical stage. The organization has grown significantly since it was established in 2004. Ambitious new goals will produce more growth and expanded programs. These changes require an expanded Board to provide oversight and direction. Consider placing your company in nomination if you would like to help move EICC forward.

Contact John Flatley for more information.
ConflictDevelopments on the "Conflict Minerals" Issue

A media campaign has been launched to raise awareness about the use of "conflict minerals" in consumer products. The campaign is tied to legislation in Congress that would require companies to identify sources of minerals in their products. The bill would also require companies to avoid use of minerals from the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. Click here to read excerpts from a forum on the issue that was hosted by the Wall Street Journal.

EICC will schedule a conference call on Wednesday, June 3 at 10 AM EST to update members on the campaign and industry efforts. Please contact Brad Cameron if you would like to participate in the call.
NewMembershipNew Membership Recruitment Program

The EICC Board is developing a new membership recruitment program for 2009-11. The program will rely on EICC members to identify prospective companies. The goal, which was adopted by the membership at the Amsterdam face to face meeting, is to recruit 5 new members in 2009, and 10 new members annually in 2010 and 2011.

Please help EICC meet its recruitment goals. Click here to download a one-page form that you can fax or email to EICC staff. Use the form to identify at least one prospective company that you would like EICC to contact. EICC Board members and staff will use the form to initiate contact and follow up. We hope to receive at least one form from every EICC member. Thanks for your help!
