VAPValidated Audit Process Launch

EICC and GeSI launched the 2009 Validated Audit Process (VAP) on April 30. The schedule for the VAP 2009 China cycle has been set, and is provided with additional information and contract templates HERE. If you do not have access to the SharePoint site, contact Grant Feichtinger. To get started we would like to highlight three critical dates:
  1. Email your intent to participate in the VAP to Phylmar@eicc.info by May 14, 2009.
  2. Prepare for the audit selection Process by having your companies specific auditee list ready by May 15, 2009.
  3. Review the EICC non-disclosure agreement and the EICC Audit Purchase Base Agreement, and sign and return them by May 21, 2009 to Phylmar@eicc.info.

Future regional cycles will be announced through the Bulletin. We will hold a VAP Q&A webinar on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at 8:00am Pacific/11:00am Eastern/3:00pm London.  You must register HERE to participate in this webinar. Please direct all questions to audits@eicc.info.

MappingSupply Chain Mapping Project

Attention primary EICC contacts: please forward this Bulletin to the approrpiate person in your company who can help us idenify suppliers.

The Extractives Work Group in conjunction with the GeSI Supply Chain Work Group has contracted with Resolve (consultant) to perform supply chain mapping of tin, tantalum, and cobalt based on the recommendation of the 2008 joint EICC/GeSI study. The scope of work is:
  1. Create a transparency model to identify companies in the electronic supply chain.
  2. Determine whether identified companies have a social responsibility code of conduct.
  3. Identify challenges incurred in collecting this information.
  4. Provide guidance on a systemic process to maintain the transparency model.
EICC member companies (with paid-in-full 2009 dues) are eligible to participate in this activity at no additional cost.

Please complete the supplier template, found HERE, and return it to Grant Feichtinger by Friday, May 15. EICC staff will consolidate the input and identify five suppliers associated with each of the three metals. The information will be used for modeling. Resolve will not have access to the company-supplier relationships identified in the harvesting activity, and no commercial relationships will be revealed.

For more information see EICC 2009 Extractives Goals_Final 04Feb2009 and 2009_Research_RFP_17Feb2009.

Please contact Grant Feichtinger with questions or concerns.
