Working Hours Awareness The Working Hours Task Force is conducting a confidential survey of commodity managers. The survey will determine levels of awareness about socially responsible practices related to work hours, and about the potential impact this has on work hours policies by suppliers. Participation in the survey is voluntary, but we hope to achieve a high participation rate to ensure statistically valid data. Take the survey Full Text |

Mexico Pilot Audits
EICC will charter up to 25 Validated Audits of facilities in Mexico. The audits will be performed in May-June, and will serve as a geographical pilot for the Latin America region. They will also provide important feedback about the audit process outside of China. The audits will be conducted by approved third-party firms, and will follow the Validated Audit Process (VAP). The EICC VAP Manager (Phylmar) will qualify and select the best local auditors from a list of EICC approved firms, and will manage the QA/QC. Final reports will conform to the latest EICC format. The audits must be completed before the ramp-up of China audits in late June. As a result, the deadline to indicate interest in participation is Friday, May 1. If interested, please submit the name, address, and location of your Mexico suppliers to Patrick Neyts of Phylmar. He will perform overlap analysis (i.e., shared audits vs. solo audits) and confirm the results with participants prior to commitment. Audit costs are estimated to be similar to costs for the China pilots. GeSI will also be invited to participate. Send questions to Mike Vaudreuil or John Gabriel. |

Survey from Chain Store Reaction
Some EICC companies have been asked by "Chain Store Reaction" to respond to a survey about anti-slavery policies. Chain Store Reaction is part of a campaign to support the movie "Call and Response," a documentary about slavery. Chain Store Reaction has established a website to post survey responses. Companies that have not responded are given a "No Response" label. Confusion has been caused by the fact that companies cannot eliminate this label by simply responding. The website administrator told EICC staff that Chain Store Reaction will only indicate that a company has responded when it provides detailed answers to the specific survey questions. Three EICC companies have responded so far. It is important to note that the campaign is not aimed specifically at the electronics industry, and only a handful of companies targeted have responded (13 out of 165). Please let Brad Cameron at EICC know if you have received a survey or need further information. Email bcameron@eicc.info. |
