Working Hours Awareness
The Working Hours Task Force is conducting a confidential survey of commodity managers. The survey will determine levels of awareness about socially responsible practices related to work hours, and about the potential impact this has on work hours policies by suppliers. Participation in the survey is voluntary, but we hope to achieve a high participation rate to ensure statistically valid data.

"Conflict Minerals" Legislation in Congress
Legislation will be introduced in Congress later this month that would require electronics firms to track use of minerals and metals used in their products. The legislation is intended to address the use of mines in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to fund war and other atrocities. A small working group of EICC, GeSI, CEA, and ITI members has been formed to review the bill and offer input. The group spoke today with staff to US Senator Sam Brownback (R-KS) about the Senator's bill, and will follow up. More details will be provided in the next Bulletin.
