I farm - a kind of painting on earth, a kind of writing on earth - because of the constantly changing patterns I can create with water, seed, soil, sunlight, the weather. The memories of what I have made, the visions of what I hope to bring into existence, and the image of narrow channels of water winding their way through the back yards of my small valley; these are what most deeply motivate. - Stanley Crawford

Dear Friends,
What a glorious April day, especially after the high winds we had here Saturday, causing the cancellation of our Corgi Meetup. We've rescheduled for next month and that'll give us time to bake up some organic Corgi cookies.
Just had my first bad snake scare of the season walking up to the house! No, not a rattler, but a young garden snake hopefully going after a blasted gopher. When my blood pressure goes down, I'll remind myself to be more on the lookout.
The best news is....Julie! another Farm Angel! It breaks my heart (still) whenever someone cancels and tells me they just aren't cooking and throwing our produce away.
My name is Julie and I am the founder of Nourish - a service based resource designed to assist families and communities with their food practices - our ultimate goal is to find ways to have joyful, practical, meals together prepared with ease - and wherever possible using the freshest local ingredients possible. You're already half way there by participating with Seabreeze!
I have partnered with Stephenie and Seabreeze to provide an ongoing service to her shareholders - a weekly "meal plan" utilizing the ingredients that are delivered to your home as well as tips, tricks and ideas to make your experience with Seabreeze and the amazing goods they provide as beneficial as possible. Hopefully you will find this resource valuable and it may help reduce your need to search online for recipes etc. Here is a link to the blog for your reference http://nourishcommunity.com/blog/. We'll start our Seabreeze related meal plans next week!
Having been a shareholder of a CSA myself for many years I understand how challenging it can be to identify all the wonderful items we get each week. Here are some tips that have saved me more than once;
- I take each item when I get it and wrap it in damp paper towels.
Anything that will store - damp towels and all in ziplock bag I put into the bags and then label the bags with a black scripto. I use the weekly newsletter announcing what's coming to identify what's what.
- If it won't store in a ziplock bag, I'll wrap a large twist tie around it and label the tie instead.
I hope this helps a bit - if it doesn't please don't hesitate to e-mail me directly and I can help identify the mystery item and provide some tips on what to do with it! Nourish also has a number of client specific services if you're looking for a bit more help with your meal preparations and planning or grocery shopping and any other food related challenges.
Please let us know if you have any other feedback and thanks for sharing your thoughts with Seabreeze. We value your opinion very much!
