The joy of being able to cut flowers freely, lavishly, to decorate the house and to give to friends is an end that justifies a lot of gardening effort. - T.H. Everett

Dear Friends,
Blessed rain, falling Sunday and through the night, clearing for today's harvest. We've had barrels and buckets under eaves to collect. Years ago I read a section of a personal journal of a woman and her family living in California before the turn of the century...the number of times a bucket of water could be used was amazing and I remember thinking 'oh please, don't let it get this bad'. But with the new scandal out of the secret meetings to raise the cost unnecessarily on our water transport, it just makes me boil thinking of the hardship and toll it takes on us having to come up with $2,000 more per month for water than a few short years ago. That's $20,000 more per year we have to earn..can't raise price on shareholders..they already don't understand for the most part how expensive it is to run a farm. So here's hoping for more rain!
And now with the 3, yes 3 female ducks hiding and sitting on eggs, we might 'get' as many as 30 baby ducks.. It's too late to remove them..embryo are developing.. have you any idea how much water ducks can go through in a day? Anyone want ducklings for Easter? Be sure to put your request in early; I'm sure I'll be swampted with requests!
I'm going to make a big crockpot today of white beans with onions, bell peppers, peas, leeks, couple of loose potatoes and what ever. ..
Have you tried oven yam fries yet? Easy and delicious. Cut up in french fry style, coat with Paicines olive oil and a little s
