Dear Friends,

Finally, the Haas avocados are arriving.  Winter avocados just don't have that rich taste that Haas does and they will only get better as the season moves on.  Our polls have indicated people like them every week so have continued during the winter with other varities but we're glad for the Haas.

This week's bag has some lovely ingredients including purple and yellow/orange cauliflowers.  Careful not to overcook or serve raw to keep the colors.

Buttercream potaotes were originally grown in Peru, legacy of the Incas.  They are rich and creamy and are good pan fried, baked, steamed or roasted.  A simple way of preparing is to wash, coat with a little good olive oil and seasonings and bake in a 375 degree oven on a baking sheet.  Add fresh thyme or rosemary to enhance.

We're expecting 25 baby Rhode Island chicks later this week.  My old baby chicken hutch was 20 years old and in disarray.  I looked on-line for a replacement, found one for $200 and $90 for shipping.  All of a sudden the old one looked like it could be re-modleded!  So two days later, and two trips to the hardware store, I now have a re-furbished, new roof and floor chick hutch.  It cost a lot more than if I had mail ordered a new one!

We'll be having a mini-tour and chicken raising class on the 24th.  We should have enough sweet peas by then so attendees will be able to pick a bouquet and we'll have a raffle for farm produce.  Will post this week on the Green Store on on the Meetup page.  Hope to see you then.  Baby chickens are irresistable!

We also do invite you to join our  Seabreeze Organic Farm Meetup for notices of upcoming events and workshops.

Please keep your notes and comments coming.  I read them all.

Enjoy in good health.
