I hate to be reminded of the passage of time, and in a garden of flowers one can never escape from it. It is one of the charms of a garden of grass and evergreens, that there for a while one is allowed to hug the illusion that time tarries. - E.V. Lucas

Dear Friends,
Thank you for the notes from last week, especially several about savoy cabbage (loved it and the Paicines Olive oil they ordered after we sent out sample bottle a couple of weeks ago. We recommend and cook ourselves with only 3 oils: coconut butter, California olive oil, and for stir-fry dishes, sesame oil. If you have the first two in your kitchen, you're off to a good cooking start.
Russet potatoes are so versatile and here is a tip that suprised me until I tried it and couldn't believe the difference...cook your potatoes in a slow cooker! Easy and so good.
Heirloom tomatoes are finally ripening and we'll be including them in your deliveries for the next few weeks. Please let me know if you like them.
I think I'll make a quiche with onions, mushrooms, eggs, and the chard. Be sure to press out the extra liquid on the chard after cooking so the quiche won't have too much liquid. Save it for a sauce or gravy.
Sincerely,
Stephenie Caughlin
