October CEO Roundtable Topics
Preview ImageOctober's various roundtable agendas are covering several interesting topics, giving members the opportunity to ask thought-provoking questions about how we lead our companies in a highly regulated environment and what is truly driving our goals and desires.

As always, we take time for an opening devotional, focused prayer related to our businesses and families, open table discussion, a deep dive, progress review and new to-do items.  Click here to view a brief video synopsis of what to expect this month.

Devotion
Coveting: Inward Disobedience w/Outward Impact (Ex 20:17)

The last of the Ten Commandments, "Thou shall not covet...," deals with the inward root cause driving much of our temptation to violate the other nine commandments. The purpose of this devotion is to take time to consider what's truly driving our desires at home and work. Have we merely dressed-up coveting in a religious wrapper? Or are we focused on loving God and man, even in the midst of challenging circumstances? The answer relates to whether we're able to be thankful for "all things" in Christ. This is an opportunity to get real with your struggles and call them to transparency in order to strengthen your walk in Christ.

Working 'on' my BUSINESS
Our Legal Freedom to Lead

This segment provides a brief overview of the issues and responsibilities each Christian Owner/CEO faces in this culture that's increasingly littered with poorly conceived laws and regulations. As God's stewards and ambassadors entrusted with his resources, we must be obedient to the Scriptural command to submit to God-ordained authorities, even while contending for the truth, our faith, and our rights in the public square. In many sectors of the economy this 'both/and' calling can certainly appear to be a daunting task. But as with Paul's experience - before the local magistrates in Ephesus and Philippi, the Sanhedrin in Jerusalem, Roman Governors in Palestine, the Areopagus in Athens, and even before Caesar in Rome - our calling is to walk out our daily opportunities in faith while trusting Him for favor, the right words to say, and the results.

Working 'on' my MINISTRY in God's Business
Thorns and Thistles

This segment follows-up this month's devotional by probing a bit deeper regarding the goals and desires we have for this life, as well as their relationship to our 'contentment.' We look for what's driving our major objectives (i.e., man-centered or God-centered). We also consider our daily need for courage and intimacy with the Lord to stay focused on the fact that God is sovereign, He's growing us for His purposes, and He will use it all for our good and His glory if we're obedient in the process. The Application Worksheet is extremely helpful in making the point that our troubles and goals can often be fleeting, though they seem all consuming at the moment, especially when we take our eyes off Jesus and His truth.
