    Peanut Butter Drive

It's not quite the "Peanut Butter Hunger Games," but the City of Puyallup has challenged the City of Sumner to a peanut butter drive.  The goal is to fill the Sumner and Puyalup food banks with peanut butter for the summer.  Peanut butter is the most requested item at the food banks because it's is full of protein, is non-perishable, and easy to eat without a utensil.

Bring jars of peanut butter to the Shred & Clean event or to Sumner City Hall.  We're collecting through May 11.

    Scam Alert--Blue Diamond Subscriptions

Sumner has recently been victim to a scam that is happening throughout the Northwest.  Young people are approaching homes and inaccurately claiming to be selling magazine subscriptions for the local high school soccer team to go on a trip to Hawaii.  The Sumner High School team is not currently selling subscriptions.  We are proud of our community's enthusiasm to support our local athletes; however, if the company is called "Blue Diamond Subscriptions," it is a scam and is not legitimate fundraising.

If you get a visit from the Blue Diamond sellers, please politely decline and then call 911 with a description of the individuals and which way they went after leaving your door.

    The Building of a Float

Congratulations, once again, to the award-winning Sumner Community Float, which won two awards in the 2012 Daffodil Festival Grand Floral Parade.  Take a look at Pierce County News' feature of how Sumner's float came to be:
