Join Sumner Police to STOMP out crime!
December 15, 3-4 pm
Sumner City Hall
STOMP is a partnership among Sumner Police, you and your business neighbors to share information that helps improve the security of your business and your employees. In addition to sharing information, we'll also
-- Discuss crime in general
-- Learn about crime trends in your area
-- Get to know each other
-- Suggest topics for future discussion
STOMP is open to all businesses in the Sumner area although the topics are primarily around the industrial area. Please invite any co-workers involved in your company's security. No RSVP necessary; for more information, contact Carmen Palmer, Communications Director at carmenp@ci.sumner.wa.us. To learn more about the Sumner Police Department, click here. |
| Who is the EDB? |
The EDB is the Economic Development Board for Tacoma-Pierce County. Established in 1978, the EDB is a partnership between private business and the public sector to encourage economic development in Tacoma-Pierce County. The EDB has a two-prong mission: retention of existing primary businesses and recruitment of new primary businesses in Tacoma-Pierce County. Primary businesses are firms that export goods or services out of the area and import new dollars into the local economy. These firms are the fundamental building blocks of economic expansion and high-wage job creation. The EDB's proactive Business Retention and Expansion (BRE) program meets with existing businesses and provides them referrals for assistance with issues related to workforce, financing, permitting, exporting, energy assistance, and government contracting, among others. The Business Recruitment program works with businesses, consultants, and other site selection decision-makers to provide information about this area as a place to locate or expand a business, and assistance in obtaining specific data about workforce, taxes and incentives, education and training, and connections with local authorities. Most recently, the EDB was a key partner in helping Green Mountain Coffee Roasters find a home right here in Sumner, for which we are very thankful. If you'd like to learn more about how the EDB can help your business, contact Susan Suess or Chris Green at 253.383.4726.
Many people could use extra assistance these days, so it's great to remember all the partners and resources we have to help us here in Sumner.

| Our Thanksgiving |
|
Yes, we've seen a calendar, and Thanksgiving Day may be over, but not the need to thank a few of our businesses that really contributed over the last couple of months.
Thank you to Walmart of Bonney Lake for donating 14 pallets of toys and merchandise to Sumner Police Department's Toys for Tots drive.
Thank you to Dillanos for helping transport and store donations for Toys for Tots and donating coffee to the sandbag filling workers.
Thank you to Sunset Chevrolet for once again running their Toy and Food Drive as well as Keep the Warm Feeling Going with a coat and blanket drive in January.
Thank you to Precision Aerospace for holding food drives for the Sumner Food Bank. The last one filled seven grocery carts!
Thank you to The Old Cannery Furniture Warehouse for once again lighting our bridge and lending tents, tables and chairs to help workers fill sandbags to help our citizens prepare.
Thank you also to Lake Tapps Top Foods for also providing food to keep the sandbag crews going!
Thank you to Green Mountain Coffee Roasters for including many people in the community to help celebrate the opening of your new location here.
We're likely missing something because all of you are doing great work. If you have a story of your involvement in the Sumner community or would like to brainstorm how you and your employees can get more involved, contact Carmen Palmer at carmenp@ci.sumner.wa.us.
