Alleviate Anxiety Symptoms By Exercising

If you suffer from excessive, uncontrollable worry, perhaps the best way to treat it is through exercise.

About 3% of Americans, most of them women, suffer from generalized anxiety disorder which is defined by the National Institutes of Mental Health as a "pattern of frequent, constant worry and anxiety over many different activities and events".

The main symptom of this condition is the presence of almost constant worry or tension, even when there is little or no cause. Other symptoms include fatigue, irritability, restlessmess and difficulty sleeping. Doctors aren't sure what causes generalized anxiety disorder. An imbalance in brain chemicals is the prime suspect. Others are genetics, life experiences and stress. Some other physical health conditions, such as heart disease and menopause, also have been associated with this anxiety disorder.

But in a study done, psychologists found a "significant" decline in worry symptoms among those that exercised - cardio and lifting weights.

It can really help relieve muscle tension and it channels nervous energy in a more productive way. People that exercise regularly seem to handle stress better when it comes their way and helps reduce the worrying. Exercise has a definite effect on our mood - in a positive way!

Exercise does a body (and mind) good!

National Infertility
Awareness Week
April 22-28, 2012

fertility

"It can allow you to cross the line from infertile to fertile by helping your body function more efficiently, which in turn allows other, more modern reproductive treatments, like IVF, to also work more efficiently," says James Dillard, MD, assistant clinical professor, Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, and clinical adviser to Columbia's Rosenthal Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine.

Researchers have confirmed its benefit in the following areas:

-Regulate menstrual cycle.

-Improve sperm count and motility.

-Reduce stress and anxiety associated with infertility.

-Normalize hormone and endocrine systems.

-Improve blood flow in the uterus.

-Decrease chance of miscarriage.

-Increase the chance of pregnancy for women undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF).

DID YOU KNOW:

Did you know that Naval Piercings are considered a big no-no (in regards to fertility & acupuncture)?

A navel piercing may seem like a benign adornment, but acupuncture theory strongly suggests that this is not a healthy or safe practice.

The problem is that the piercing is creating a semi-permanent obstruction in the flow of a very important energy channel known as the Conception Vessel (or Ren Mai in Chinese). The conception runs from between the legs up the front of the body, ending below the mouth. The navel is an acupuncture point on the Conception Vessel- CV-8. You may also notice CV-8 is a point that one is specifically forbidden to needle.

When an obstruction like a navel piercing is placed in a channel it creates a physical blockage to the flow of the channel. The piercing represents a constant interruption in the energetic field of the body. As you might gather from its name in English, the Conception Vessel is a very important channel in the energetics of the reproductive system.

Consequently the blockage created by the piercing can possibly lead to problems down the road, particularly with the reproductive system:

-Infertility

-Amenorrhea (no menstrual periods)

-Cervical Dysplasia (abnormal cells of the cervix which may lead to cancer)

-Uterine fibroids

-Endometriosis
