Cold & Flu Season

While the misery of cold and flu season might be inevitable, one thing is changing: where we look for relief.

Acupuncture to Get Better Faster - If you have already come down with a cold or the flu, acupuncture treatments can help relieve symptoms you are currently experiencing including chills, fever, body aches, runny nose, congestion, sore throat and cough. While bringing some immediate relief, treatments will reduce the incidence of an upper respiratory tract infection and shorten the length of the illness.

Acupuncture for Prevention - Acupuncture and Oriental medicine can prevent colds and flu by strengthening the immune system with just a few needles inserted into key points along the body's energy pathways. In Oriental Medicine, disease prevention begins with a protective layer around the exterior of the body called wei qi or defensive energy. There are acupuncture points known for strengthening the circulation of blood and energy and for consolidating the outer defense layers of the skin and muscle (Wei Qi) so that germs and viruses cannot enter through them. If you catch colds easily, have low energy and require a long time recuperating from an illness your wei qi may be deficient.

Insurance
INSURANCE CARDS

As of January 1st, all patients must present their insurance cards to the front desk for verification. Even if your plan has not changed to your knowledge, we still require the insurance card because many plans are changing deductibles, co-pays, etc.

PLANS WITH LARGE DEDUCTIBLES

Because of the rise in deductibles on many insurance plans, WE WILL REQUIRE PAYMENT FOR EACH VISIT AT THE TIME OF SERVICE IF YOUR DEDUCTIBLE IS $300 OR MORE FOR THE YEAR. Please see the receptionist for details if you have one of these plans.

Acupuncture & Stress

Acupuncture Can Help

stress

Stress is a major component of many different diseases and conditions. If prolonged, stress begins to overtax the various systems within the body, particularly the endocrine and the immune systems. This can lead to the over activity and the eventual collapse of these systems as well as others that work in conjunction or are closely related. Stress therefore can be a gateway to many different chronic disorders. A survey of recent prevalent chronic diseases and an increase in the diagnosis of such conditions as: chronic fatigue, hypertension, thyroid disorders and fibromyalgia shows that conditions in which stress is a major factor are on the rise globally.

Acupuncture is an amazingly effective way to rid the body of stress. There are acupuncture techniques specifically for stress, but acupuncture administered for any given complaint will also have the added benefit of reducing stress. This works both ways, as the stress reducing effect of acupuncture puts the body into a healing state which is conducive to alleviate any given specific complaint. So a stress reduction treatment might help alleviate insomnia, or even make a stiff back feel better. Furthermore, treating a stiff back will most definitely also relax the patient and help relieve anxiety as well. For any of you who are suffering from high levels of stress and anxiety due to your home life, career or any other reason seeking attention for these issues before it leads to a decline in your health is always the best option. Acupuncture is a safe and effective means of support for stress and anxiety suffers with minimal to no side-effects. Take a time out for your health and experience the benefits of acupuncture.
