Bruce Owens Retires

bruce owensDavid E. Cowan, President and CEO of Plastic Safety Systems, Inc., (PSS) recently announced the retirement of Bruce Owens, PSS Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

Bruce, a PSS employee since 1993, will officially retire on December, 30, 2011. He and wife Kay will move to the Annapolis, MD area to enjoy retirement with children and grandchildren.

Announcing Bruce's retirement, Dave said, "Bruce was far more than a manager. In plain language, Bruce was my wing man. He was also a guide, counsel, and devil's advocate, depending upon the situation."

Dave added, "Thanks to Bruce, we got a lot of those situations right."

As Vice President, Bruce managed the sales and marketing activities at PSS.  He joined PSS when we introduced our LifeGard Drum and Rubber Tire Collar System.  Bruce helped make the drum and tire collar system both a runaway success and an icon, as the system enjoys a 90%+ market share of total drum sales.

Under Bruce's watch, PSS brought several other new products to market, including:

    • LifeGard® II Traffic Drum
    • Anchor® Type III Barricade
    • CrashGard® Sand Barrel System
    • RoadQuake™ and RoadQuake Modular™ Temporary Portable Rumble Strip
    • SafetyWall™ and SafetyRail™ ADA-Compliant Pedestrian Barricades.

Most recently, Bruce has managed the expansion of PSS's direct sales force. In early 2011, Bruce added three product managers to promote our growing line of rumble strips and pedestrian barricades.
