Campus Cleanup
The Student Governing Association is hosting a 'Campus Cleanup' tomorrow (Oct. 9th) from 11:00am-1:00pm. Meet at Bosco Plaza. A free lunch will be provided for volunteers at 1:00pm. All Greek chapters are expected to participate! Have your chapter members arrive about 15 minutes before 11:00am. Please contact Natalie Rauth at njrauth@ksu.edu for more information.

B.I.G. on October 23rd
B.I.G. is the all Greek philanthropy that is held annually. This year, the philanthropy will be held in conjunction with the Volunteer Center as the kick off of their 'Make a Difference Week'. On October 23rd we, as an entire Greek community, will participate in an event that will include, but is not limited to, leaf raking, trash pickup, house cleanup, gutter cleaning, etc. We will be dispersed across the community at houses of Fort Riley families, other families, and elderly homes all in need of services before winter sets in. Busing will be available for sites that are further away, but we will be looking to chapters for some transportation needs.
Each chapter is required to have, at minimum, 40% of their chapter in attendance. The exact time is to be announced, but will be in the morning. There is no game this day so that should not be an issue.
There are several families that are in need of our assistance and we are the only community on campus able to give the vast amount of assistance that is needed. We will be making a difference in so many lives, but it will only take a few hours of your time. These hours can be counted towards community service hours for your chapter members.
Also, e-mail Heather Houchen at hhouchen@ksu.edu if know of anyone interested or you would like to be trained to be a site leader for this project. We would love your help!

 Fiesta Feed
On October 1st, Alpha Xi Delta held its "AmaXIng Challenge Event": Fiesta Feed. Fiesta Feed is an all-you-can-eat nacho bar, benefiting Autism Speaks. During the event, raffle tickets were sold and drawn every 15 minutes, multiple live bands performed throughout the entire night, and a pinata was filled with tons of candy. The most popular event was the jalapeno pepper eating contest; it was exciting because many "manly" men attempted the challenge and resulted with lots of tears from the peppers' heat. With all the eating and fun, Alpha Xi raised about $3,000 for our philanthropy Autism Speaks. We all had a blast and hope everyone who attended did as well. "Autism Speaks and Alpha Xi Delta Listens."

Opportunities
Interested in learning about another culture? Need a friend? Apply to become an International Buddy! This is an excellent opportunity to learn from an international student and teach them what you know and love about K-State!
Up 'til Dawn has raised a total of $885,000 on K-State's campus, and we want to reach $1 million this year. But we can't reach our goal without your help! Up 'til Dawn is excited for its annual Letter Sending Party Oct. 12th, from 6:00pm - 11:00pm (come and go) in the Union Ballroom. Participants who write 50 letters will get a free t-shirt. Up 'til Dawn benefits St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, where the overall childhood cancer survival rate has gone from less than 20 percent to 80 percent. St. Jude is a truly wonderful cause, and those who participate really do make a difference in the lives of many children -- we are giving them another chance at life. The Black Student Union of Washburn University has invited our Greek community to participate in their first annual "Who Runs The Yard" Fall Step Show that will be held on Saturday, October 16th. For more information click here.

GAMMA
Greeks Advocating the Mature Management of Alcohol
Are you interested in forming a peer education group that works as a team to identify high-risk student behavior and then creatively develops ways to educate Greek members?
GAMMA is a leadership program specifically for fraternity and sorority members who agree to be advocates to their chapter members. GAMMA members can lead the way for learning more about health and safety issues, and reduce some of the high-risk behaviors that can cause harm to individuals or to the chapter.

Please be timely in signing forms- give your pairing enough time to sign all forms before the deadline. The Homecoming Handbook is available online. Please address Greek homecoming related questions to Jacquie Lewis at jacqlew@ksu.edu or David Allen at allendvd@ksu.edu, before contacting the Alumni Center employees - they are very busy people and shouldn't be bothered with questions that we can answer!

Office Announcements...
Chapter Invoices - that have not been picked up have been mailed to chapters. Bills are due on Oct. 15th by 5:00pm in Greek Affairs. Make sure to get your payment in on time, there is a 5% late fee and a 1.5% per month interest fee on any outstanding balances.

Chapter AnnouncementsAlpha Chi Omega: October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. During that month, our chapter is committed to raising awareness for domestic violence and sexual assault. Many of our members will be participating in The Crisis Center, Inc.'s training and volunteering at the center. We will also be spreading awareness on campus by passing out purple ribbons and selling DVA t-shirts. Finally, we will be spreading the word online through our Facebook page. Questions? Alpha Xi is filled with Harry Potter Fanatics, so we are having a movie marathon with a costume contest, playing Harry Potter inspired board games, cooking up some movie treats, and playing our own version of quidditch. Gamma Phi Beta: This week at Gamma Phi Beta we had 'Crescent Values' at chapter. We talked about different cultures and the importance of being culturally aware. We are getting ready to start our election process and have been discussing all the different leadership positions in our house. We have about 40 members that will be participating in Kansas City's National Kidney Walk this Saturday, Oct. 9th, in support of one of our sisters. It is really amazing to see how supportive everyone has been. We hope everyone has a great weekend!

Kappa Delta: On Tuesday, the junior and freshman pledge classes of Kappa Delta enjoyed some bonding time by going to a movie together and having an ice cream social. We are all so excited to grow closer to all the new members. This Saturday we are helping out with Delta Sigma Phi's philanthropy, Momorial. Tickets are $5 in advance and $7 at the door. We hope to see everyone there!

Zeta Tau Alpha: The Director of New Chapters of K-State's Zeta Tau Alpha colony appointed officers over this past weekend. They will start the training process throughout the next couple of weeks! Zeta is excited about being first time participants at Up Till Dawn, Homecoming, and partnering with FarmHouse and Kappa Alpha Psi for Philanthrocakes October 18th from 9-11 PM!
