April is "Advisor Appreciation" Month
Don't know how to thank your advisor? Here are some great ideas!
1. Send a heartfelt e-mail with personal details about how an advisor has made an impact. 2. Throw a small surprise luncheon in recognition of your advisor's service. 3. Run an online ad in your campus or community newspaper recognizing all those who advise, guide and support sorority communities, and send the advisor a link when it posts. 4. Feature National Advisor Appreciation Month on your Web site. 5. Do an interview and write up a profile on a special advisor, and submit it to your sorority magazine for possible publication. 6. Offer to provide free childcare for advisors with children for a personal night off. 7. Personally deliver a single flower to your advisor. 8. At a chapter meeting, divide into committees, and write thank you notes and notes of appreciation to your advisors. 9. Purchase a small Panhellenic gift or sorority-themed gift for your advisors. 10. Send certificates of appreciation to all chapter advisors and fraternity/sorority advisors and staff.

A Message from Kim Woiwod
This May I
am greatly looking forward to joining the Kansas State Greek Community
as the Assistant Director of Greek Affairs, Primary Sorority Advisor. I
also want to extend many thanks to all members of the community that
have sent such welcoming emails. Through the interview process I was
incredibly impressed by the caliber of student leaders and how engaged
they were in the process. I think that this speaks tremendously to
nature of KSU's community!
Currently I am finishing my term as
the Graduate Interfraternity Council Advisor and preparing to graduate
with my masters in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at Iowa
State University. Prior to Iowa State, I traveled as a Leadership
Consultant for my sorority (Alpha Delta Pi).
Additionally I
have spent these past two years volunteering for my organization as the
Standards and Ethics Advisor. I am also a member of the Association of
Fraternity Advisors (AFA) and the Association of Fraternal Leadership
and Values (AFLV).
I believe my experiences and passion for
Greek Life will provide an incredible foundation for the experiences
yet to come at KSU! Please feel free to contact me at kwoiwod@iastate.edu if you have any questions as I transition to my role at Kansas State.

Greek Contribution Awards
Daily outstanding actions are offered by outstanding individuals. These actions and ideals create the progress which is at the heart of the K-State Fraternity and Sorority Strategic Plan and the Fraternal Relevance Accreditation and Minimum Expectations program. Annually Greek Awards are offered not just to chapters for their positive contributions to relevance, but also to the many individuals making fraternal relevance possible. The K-State Greek Affairs office is now accepting nominations for the Contribution Awards, to be offered at the annual Greek Awards ceremony. Contributions Awards are offered to individuals for the positive contributions to their self, their chapter, the Greek community and the Manhattan community. All nominations are to be submitted on behalf of a chapter by a lead coordinator. Nominations must be submitted with the brief nominations form attached. The Greek Affairs staff encourages nomination materials to be creative in their development. Suggestions for the format of nomination include, but are certainly not limited to letter(s) of recommendation, video montages (YouTube clips), electronic presentations, PowerPoint slide shows, product examples (newsletters, articles, photos, etc.), and presentation boards. Successful nominees should have positively contributed to fraternity/sorority members' attainment of the K-State fraternity and sorority values: accountability, diversity, balance, growth, self-actualization, contribution, integrity, knowledge, creativity, relationships, and teamship.
The following Contribution Awards will be offered and are now open for nomination:
Above and Beyond Chapter President Award Sorority Women of the Year Award Fraternity Man of the Year Award Sorority New Member of the Year Award Fraternity New Member of the Year Award Faculty or Staff Member of the Year Award Chapter Advisor of the Year Award Alumni Distinguished Service Award Alumni Lifetime Service Award All nominations should be submitted in the Greek Affairs office no later than noon April 9, 2010. For more information on these awards, please contact Greek Affairs at (785) 532-5546.
