IFC/PHC Joint Meeting this Week

This past Monday, the new Interfraternity Council, Panhellenic Council, and chapter presidents attended their first joint meeting of the semester. Directors and presidents gave their reports from winter break and the women's group got details about the all sorority open house, formal recruitment dates, and hard-alcohol ban education. The next PHC meeting, February 1st at Alpha Chi Omega, should be an exciting one. Members of Zeta Tau Alpha leadership will be in attendance, so let's give them a warm welcome!

For more information on Monday's meeting, check out the minutes in Greek Affairs, Union 214.

All Sorority Open House, January 31st

All sororities will participate in the open house and will provide an opportunity for chapter house tours. This is a great opportunity to learn more about sororities, get answers to your questions, and meet new people. A list of chapters actively recruiting (COB) will be distributed during the Sorority Recruitment Informational Sessions (Jan. 26th 8-9 pm, Jan. 28th 7-8 pm, Union State Rooms) and the All Sorority Open House.

You will also be able to visit with representatives from Zeta Tau Alpha. Zeta Tau Alpha's representatives will be located at the Kappa Kappa Gamma Chapter House. Zeta Tau Alpha is K-State's newest sorority and will begin recruiting during the fall 2010 semester.

Vans will pick-up and drop-off participants in front of Goodnow Hall and Derby Dining Center. Vans will run in continuous circles through the three sorority neighborhoods and the two pick-up points all evening.

The suggested attire for the Open House is jeans with a nice shirt.

 Job & Volunteer Opportunities

The Academic and Career Information Center (ACIC) will soon be selecting new staff members, Career Specialists, to begin employment for the fall 2010 semester. Career Specialists guide students through career assessments and assist them in connecting career goals with academic programs at K-State.  Click here for more information.

Court-Appointed Special Advocates are volunteers who give their time to advocate for abused and neglected children in the court system. During 2009, 181 children in need of care cases were filed in Riley, Clay and Pottawatomie counties. We were only able to assign a CASA volunteer to 63 of the children involved with these cases. This means that we need your help now more than ever! Click here for more information.
