Greek LEADS: February 28
Tomorrow is Greek LEADS! This semester's Greek LEADS is focused on chapter leadership and whole-chapter development.
 The spring 2009 keynote speaker is Ross Szabo, presenting his program entitled: Mixed Drinks, Mixed Emotions: Alcohol Abuse and Mental Health. This program will addresses the ties between substance abuse and mental health. Ross Szabo has been speaking about this issue to hundreds of thousands of young people all over the country. His goal is to break down the stereotypes surrounding expression of emotion in order to help young people function at their highest level. Students will learn about mental disorders, positive coping mechanisms and the best ways to open communication amongst their peers. Learn more about Ross and his program. This program is sponsored in part by K-State HD.

Present your chapter at K-State: respond by March 8
Kansas State University will present its 30 annual All-University Open House on Saturday April 18. In an effort to increase campus involvement, the Student Life Exhibits Committee is again coordinating group displays in the K-State Student Union from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. We encourage you to Participate in these activities by providing a display booth.

Chapter FMR Manual goes online
The 2009 Chapter Formal Membership Recruitment Manual is now available to all membership selections/recruitment chairwomen leading their chapter's Formal Membership Recruitment efforts. Here, leaders find a variety of information including important documents, tips, and forms. This manual will be reviewed at Greek LEADS and will updated regularly.

Kappa Pike Spike is coming!
Kappa Kappa Gamma, along with Pi Kappa Alpha, will host Kappa Pike Spike on Sunday, March 29 at the Recreational Center Sand Volleyball Courts. The event will begin at noon.
Registration is $30 for one team and $50 for two. Each additional team will be $15. All teams must register by March 10.
Proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society and the Kappa Foundation.

Help us gather best practices in retention
Each chapter is asked to respond to a brief survey to share best practices in membership retention as well as offer feedback as to the retention-related efforts of the Panhellenic and Interfraternity Councils. The online survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete and will remain active through March 9. Past National President visits Sigma Kappa chapter
Ms. Angela Guillory, past national president of Sigma Kappa, visited the K-State Sigma Kappa chapter last weekend at the request of the chapter leadership. Ms. Guillory offered a wonderful lesson and respect and Sigma Kappa national initiatives. In the future, the sisters of Sigma Kappa wish to invite Ms. Guillory back to Manhattan to offer a program for the greater Greek community! |
K-State Admissions Ambassador applications available
Amanda Barrett, Admissions Representative for K-State is looking for outstanding K-State students to apply for a group of K-State representatives: K-State Ambassadors for Johnson County. Responsibilities of student ambassadors will include: monthly meetings on campus, representing K-State at special events on campus and in Johnson County (must be willing to travel), giving campus tours, and building positive relationships with prospective students through email, personal notes, and phone calls. This position will require about 10-15 hours of commitment per month. To apply, students must have graduated from a high school in Johnson County, be a full-time K-State student with a minimum GPA of 2.75, have a desire to enhance leadership skills and gain knowledge of K-State, posses strong written and oral communication skills, and be dedicated to recruiting students to K-State. Applications can be found in 104 Anderson, the OSAS office in the union, or one of the Academic Resource Centers in the residence halls to pick up an application. Applications are due March 12th by 5pm. Students who are selected for interviews will be notified by email by March 27, and interviews will take place on March 31st and April 1. Coach young Manhattanites this summer!
The Manhattan Parks and Recreation Department is currently in need of coaches for Youth Spring Soccer League for boys and girls grades 1st-8th as well as looking ahead to the summer when they will need coaches for youth baseball and softball league for ages K-12th grage. The baseball and softball season will start in mid-May. Any interested soccer or softball coaches can contact Chris Nelson at and baseball coaches can contact Kelly Walters.
