Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: Tips from the Green Team Turn off your computer when you leave for the day! Even on standby your computer is drawing power, and it doesn't take that long for them to boot up in the morning. If you want to be really green, make sure all of your electronics are plugged into a power strip with a switch, then just switch the strip off and keep all your digital "vampires" from feeding at night.

Food for Fines a Success! Bevan Angier reports that the spring semester's Food for Fines campaign was the most successful in its history! Donors contributed 1,173 food items, which were delivered to Cathedral Emergency Services in downtown Syracuse. According to CES director Peter Parillo, pantry shelves are full for the first time in years, enabling them to serve more of the city's hungry and homeless. Bevan expressed thanks to the Business Services Office staff, Randy Money, and everyone who helped get the word out about the program.

Thanks from the Japanese Student Association
You may recall that in the wake of the recent devastating earthquake in Japan, we allowed the Japanese Student Association to place a donation box adjacent to the circulation desk in Bird Library. We received a lovely thank you note from the JSA informing us that they had collected over $7,000 on campus, which they sent to the Japanese Consulate in New York. You can view their letter here.
JSA will continue to accept donations in the Slutzker Center, the SU Bookstore in Schine, the Warehouse, 340 HBC, or People's Place until the end of semester.
