Fine Arts Institute 2009 Commemorative Ornament for Dancing with the Arts!

Gold glass ornaments, fresh flowers and twinkling lights will decorate Dancing with the Arts, presented by the Fine Arts Institute of Edmond.  On Friday, November 20th from 7 - 10:30, art patrons will dance to hip tunes of Souled Out and enjoy a buffet at River Oaks Golf Club. 
 
Tickets are $150 per couple. Call 340-4481 to get your tickets!

MIDCON Wins Sporting Clays Tournament winners
 
MIDCON Data Services Team 2 was the winner of the Edmond Chamber's Sporting Clays Tournament on November 6th held at Silverleaf Shotgun Sports in Guthrie.

The Chamber's Green Council has been working hard to help local businesses be green and save money to help their bottom line. If you want to start going green at your company, the Council has two new downloads to help!
 
The new downloads are "Going Green - Where do I begin?" and "Start with the Low Hanging Fruit". These two downloads are great resources to begin your green journey. The web page also has other informational downloads, links to helpful web sites and a spotlight form for businesses who are using green practices.

OKC, Tulsa rank among top 10 economies
TULSA, Okla. (AP) - A new study shows the Oklahoma City and Tulsa metro area economies rank among the top 10 in the country.
Using data and analysis from the Brookings Institution's new MetroMonitor study, BusinessWeek.com selected the top 40 economies based on job growth, employment, economic growth and home prices.
Oklahoma City ranked No. 3 on the list, with Tulsa at No. 7.
The study noted the oil and gas industry have played a key role in helping both cities weather the recession.
 
Oklahoma City area's jobless rate lowest among cities 
(The Oklahoman) The Oklahoma City metro area's September jobless rate of 5.9 percent was the lowest in the nation for large cities with a population of 1 million or more, preliminary Labor Department numbers released Wednesday showed.

That number is down from August's 6.1 percent, the country's second lowest rate.

(Edmond Life & Leisure) The Edmond Convention & Visitors Bureau has won a Red Bud Award in ceremonies in Tulsa recently. The award is sponsored by the Oklahoma Travel Industry Association and the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department. The Red Bud Awards recognize Oklahoma's tourism attractions, destination marketing organizations, media and travel writers for their outstanding efforts to serve and promote Oklahoma's tourism industry.
