 State Question Forum on September 29

Please attend the State Question Forum on September 29, 2009.
The City of Edmond and the Edmond Area Chamber of Commerce will co-host a State Question Forum on Tuesday, September 29 at 6:30 pm in the large auditorium of the Downtown Community Center, 28 E Main Street. Other sponsors are Representative Ken Miller and House District 81 Committee. The public is invited to attend the forum. (This is not a political event and there will be no campaigning.)
The forum is a non-partisan event to provide information to the public on several state questions that will be on the 2010 ballot. Various representatives and state legislators will discuss the pros and cons of each state question and will take questions from the audience.

Edmond Safety Top of Mind
Even though Edmond is reported to have a very low crime rate, the push for a new safety center has come back up at City Council.
Edmond had the least number of violent crimes reported in 2008 when compared with the 15 largest cities in the state, according to the latest FBI Uniform Crime Report.
The comparison is among cities with a population of 24,235 or greater. Read more...
The City of Edmond will be hosting a City Council Workshop about the Public Safety Center set for 3 p.m. Sept. 28 at the City Council Chambers, 20 S. Littler.

The Edmond Chamber will formally announce the program at the September 29th Membership Luncheon. Win a BIG prize for the launch of this new program!!!! So BE THERE - must be present to win!
The fourth quarter of 2009 will be used to test the program and will go from October 1, 2009 to December 18, 2009. Points will be awarded for event attendance and committee meeting attendance. Point standings will be in the Wednesday e-news every other week and will also be available for viewing on the Chamber's website. Member point standings will be updated every Friday on the web site. Prizes will be awarded on a monthly and quarterly basis. Members will be eligible for the prize drawings based on their accumulated points. The Edmond Area Chamber of Commerce's Women's Network Council has set the speakers for the four break-out sessions at the inaugural Women's Leadership Conference. The conference will be presented by Edmond Medical Center on November 13, 2009 in the UCO University Center.
Cindi Broaddus, also know as Dr. Phil McGraw's sister-in-law and author of "A Random Act", will be the keynote speaker discussing her life journey and the tragic assault that changed her life forever.
