Who is Smarter than a 5th Grader?

Horizon Christian School Visits

Ms. Kamp's 5th grade class from the Horizon Christian School of Hood River came prepared. Their visit to WAAAM started before they even walked through the door.

Each student did  researched on one ofthe operating artifacts in the museum. They came dressed in period clothing and gave a speech to the classabout their car, plane or motorcycle of choice.

This class was lucky. Tom Murphy (the man who flew the Curtiss Pusher off the roof of a hotel in '95)  was here to talk to them about that flight, and to teach a bit about the process of restoring an aircraft.

Murphy said "Those kids had great questions, I see some pilots coming along in a few years"

If you know of a school group that would benefit from a visit to a living museum "Pass the Word"  about WAAAM. It is a great field trip for any age!

Second Saturday

Nov. 12

What does WAAAM have planned for this Second Saturday?

Stop by to see and hear the 1918 Stanley Steamer drive a bit. Learn Just how much work it used to be to go for a drive. The day is going to have good weather. Right? We are planning on it! ( if the weather tanks.... you will still get to learn about the famous Steamer from the owner).

November 2011 is the 100th Aniversary of Naval Aviation. WAAAM houses a number of planes that were a part of those last 100 years. Come talk with some Navy Pilots, and take away a bit history.

You can't help but imagine (or remember) what life was like way back when..." says Judy Newman, Museum Director at WAAAM. "We are very excited and hopeful that this app will expose new generations to a bit of the magic from the early days of transportation and the wonder that is WAAAM."
