Rangers Come to Corey      

Rangers Captain

Mark Hamburger is a big league pitcher with big league credentials, so you'd expect the students at Corey Elementary to go batty seeing him in their school, and they did ... until Rangers Captain made an appearance. The wacky Texas Rangers mascot has a way of stealing the show, even when it's the annual Rangers Winter Caravan making a pit stop. | Rangers Captain entertained kindergarten through third-grade students at Corey during the Rangers Winter Caravan.

City Hoops Champs  

City Hoops Champs

You have to wonder what those practices are like over at Ousley. The boys basketball team captured its fourth consecutive AISD City Basketball Championship on Feb. 4 by fending off a scrappy Young team in the closing minutes, 39-36. The game followed another nail biter in the girls championship game where Barnett slipped by Young by an almost identical score of 40-36. |The Barnett girls and Ousley boys won the AISD City Basketball Championship games Saturday.

Baseball and Faith at Young 

Young FCATrey Hillman was a good baseball player while at Sam Houston High School, the University of Texas at Arlington and in the minor leagues, though not necessarily a great one. He may have never made it to the major leagues as a player, yet he's been in baseball for nearly 30 years. | Los Angeles Dodgers Bench Coach Trey Hillman recently spoke at a Fellowship of Christian Athletes meeting at Young Junior High.

Cheer Champions Again  

Martin CheerleadersWinning is hardly a foreign affair for the Martin High School cheerleaders, but snagging another victory in what's affectionately called the Super Bowl of Cheerleading is still something that's quite sweet. In fact, when the Warrior cheerleaders walked away from the 2012 National Cheerleader Association High School Nationals in January with top honors, it was for the second consecutive year.Martin High School cheerleaders won first place in the Large Intermediate Coed Division of the 2012 National Cheerleader Association High School Nationals.

V-soft Visitor Management System
Starting Monday, Feb. 13, all AISD schools will have a new visitor check-in system called V-soft. All visitors will be asked to present a valid state-issued ID to be scanned into the system.
