Getting Fit at Beckham

About 100 Beckham Elementary fifth graders were on hand in their gymnasium to ooh and aah over Texas Rangers pitcher Derek Holland, who visited the school Dec. 15. Holland certainly wasn't alone, bringing with him a number of friends, like the always-energetic Rangers Captain. The Arlington Fire Department showed up, along with staff from the Medical Center of Arlington. | Beckham Elementary fifth graders participated in the Fitness All-Stars program before winter break.

World Diversity at Goodman       

YFormer Speer students reminisce over scrapbooks

Visitors roaming the halls of Goodman Elementary just before winter break found themselves in a kind of international vortex. Everywhere you went there was something on a bulletin board or wall about a country, whether it was the food or way of life or religious influences. | Goodman Elementary held their first Multicultural Parade before winter break.

Hale's Moving Gift  

Dr. Bernard Harris By the time the Hale Elementary choir exited Autumn Leaves Memory Care Center in Arlington, it was clear a rather moving transformation had occurred. The question is which group was more affected - the elderly residents who made up the audience or the students who came to share holiday cheer? | Hale Elementary choir students performed at Autumn Leaves Memory Care Center.

Johns Gives Back       

AISD Access Criteria for the Johns Elementary track team aren't much different from other track clubs - you've got to have an affinity for running, for starters. But when Johns physical education teacher Randy Williams put together his track team at the school the criteria expanded to include community service. | The Johns Elementary track team volunteered in the Mission Arlington Christmas Store.
