Larson's Day of Fitness

The fall kick off of the Texas Rangers MCA Fitness All-Stars Health and Fitness program found its way to Larson Elementary Tuesday. By the end of the day fifth graders had run, jumped, played tug of war and swung on monkey bars. They also learned which snacks are good (bananas) and not so good (doughnuts). | Larson Elementary students participate in an afternoon of fitness-themed games.

Overcoming Big Odds

Talk about rising above it all. Bowie student Edwin F. came to the United States from Liberia in West Africa at age four. He settled in Minnesota and then saw the bottom fall out. Through a number of unfortunate circumstances, he would bounce around between family members and even spend parts of his time homeless. | Bowie High School sophomore Edwin F. receives the Rise Above award from ESPN.
