Pinwheels for Peace  

Students learn about Pinwheels for Peace

On Wednesday, about 3.5 million handmade pinwheels were set out on lawns and in fields all over the world.

Six hundred of them sprouted up in Arlington, all at Ashworth Elementary.   

| Students at Ashworth Elementary learn through the Pinwheels for Peace program, which promotes goodwill throughout the world.

Move with the Mayor winner Katie C.

The idea of a chalkboard becoming interactive was once wishful thinking  - something out of the Sci-Fi Channel. Now you can't walk into an AISD classroom without seeing teachers use interactive white boards, wireless mobile devices and document cameras while students work on individual assignments on their very own iPad. |Gunn Junior High seventh grader Warren H. uses a Promethian board in Ken Dainton's math class.

A Caring Carter 

Operation Graduation Volunteers

Giving up a Saturday is never easy for young students, so it's an impressive sight to see Carter Junior High students spending theirs in dirt.| Carter Junior High students planted gardens at First Christian Church Arlington on the National Day of Caring.

Greene Scholars: "Fantastic"   

UTA's College Park Center

Quite often Diane Brewer is asked to describe the attributes of her current class of overachievers who made the cut for the Richard Greene Scholars Program. Each time the question stumps her. Each school year, the Richard Greene Scholar program selects such intriguing students with eclectic backgrounds that trying to sum them up as a group is a mission close to impossible, even for the coordinator. | This year's Richard Greene Scholars are a well-rounded group involved in activities throughout the community.
