Our Vision The vision of the Capitol Area South District is that all local churches are to be disciple-making centers that mirror the demographic composition of the community in which they are located in terms of age, ethnicity, and cultural background; and that the congregations continually grow and reach new people for Christ and strive to be open and inclusive of all God's children. Leading Beyond the Walls Event Challenges Congregational Leaders to Innovate or Die
 | |
Teams in group discussion at Leading Beyond the Walls
|
Almost two hundred leaders of congregations representing teams from thirty-seven congregations heard Debi Nixon and Randy Meyer from the Church of the Resurrection (COR) in Leawood, KS challenge them to "innovate or die." Debi is the Executive Director of Regional Campuses and Catalyst Ministry for COR and Randy is the Executive Director of Education at the mega church in the Kansas City area. During the Friday evening and all day Saturday event hosted by the Scioto Ridge UMC, participants received teachings on the ten characteristics of growing churches. When the teams left the event on Saturday afternoon, many had made commitments to go back to their congregations and work on ways to implement many of the teachings from the event in the ministries of their congregations.
