Mission and Vision of the CAS District
Our Mission:
The Mission of the Capitol Area South District is to encourage and equip United Methodist congregations in their mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
Our Vision
The vision of the Capitol Area South District is that all local churches are to be disciple-making centers that mirror the demographic composition of the community in which they are located in terms of age, ethnicity, and cultural background; and that the congregations continually grow and reach new people for Christ and strive to be open and inclusive of all God's children.

Taking a Look At:
Journey in the Wilderness:
New Life for Mainline Churches (Part 2)
In his new book Journey in the Wilderness (available through Cokesbury), church consultant Gil Rendle offers a pjourney in the wildernesserspective on the challenges and struggles of the mainline church (primarily from the perspective of the United Methodist Church) through the last forty years.

In this month's article Jim examines the "Fourth Path" of "adaptive work" in which  Rendle says leaders of congregations and the denomination need to engage for transformational change to take place as we seek our way out of the wilderness into the ministry that God is calling us to in this day.

Challenge Offered in One Day to End Homelessness
One Day to End Homelessness 2

The final total for the One Day to End Homelessness Phone Bank on Monday, January 31 was $101,544.39 -- 1000+ donors!  Thank you for your help in getting the word out across Columbus and in UM congregations.

Coordinator the Rev. David Meredith reports:

Now is the time for the faith community offerings!  I really hope we can double the total through UM congregations. I will keep you posted throughout the month of February as the Faith Community donations come in. I understand you are receiving phone calls wondering where to send checks for One Day to End Homelessness.  They should be sent to the Community Shelter Board, 111 Liberty Street, Suite 150, Columbus, OH  43215.  The Shelter Board is keeping a spread sheet of United Methodist contributions, therefore, please make sure church identify their offering for One Day to End Homelessness/UMC in the memo. I am hopeful to be able to give each district a report of congregational gifts to the effort.

For those who want to connect more deliberately with the Community Shelter Board, they can go to the website for the event and fill out the data information as a participating faith organization.
