Mission and Vision of the CAS District
Our Mission:
The Mission of the Capitol Area South District is to encourage and equip United Methodist congregations in their mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
Our Vision
The vision of the Capitol Area South District is that all local churches are to be disciple-making centers that mirror the demographic composition of the community in which they are located in terms of age, ethnicity, and cultural background; and that the congregations continually grow and reach new people for Christ and strive to be open and inclusive of all God's children. New Rethink Church Website Launched
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (UMNS) - Congregational resources for the Rethink
Church advertising and welcoming campaign have moved to a new website address: umcom.org/rethinkchurch. The
website that previously housed congregational resources, RethinkChurch.org,
will become the primary seeker site that is featured in Rethink Church advertsing, beginning this fall. "Research shows that RethinkChurch.org
resonates most strongly with the seekers we are trying to reach with our
denominational advertising," said the Rev. Larry Hollon, chief executive of
United Methodist Communications. "This website address reinforces the message
we want non-United Methodist seekers to take away from our advertising-that we
are rethinking church."

Society of St. Andrews in Running for $250,000 in the Pepsi Refresh Project
Big Island, VA - Pepsi is
granting 1.3 million dollars in September to fund ideas that will refresh the
world. The Society of St. Andrew's approach to feeding the hungry will
certainly refresh the world of those in need. You can help feed the hungry
by voting every day in September for the Society of St. Andrew in the Pepsi
Refresh Everything Project, Food & Shelter-$250,000 category. Each month a different group
of ideas submitted from all across the country to the Pepsi Refresh Project are
voted on in selected categories by people nationwide. The "ideas"
that get the most votes are granted the prize money to help fulfill their
goals. The Society of St. Andrew's (SoSA) hunger relief ministry is in the
September voting cycle. If they come out on top the money will provide an
additional 9 million servings of fresh, nutritious produce to those in
need. Starting September 1st at
6:00 A.M. and every day in September, go to SoSA's website, www.endhunger.org, and click "VOTE TO FEED 9 MILLION
HUNGRY AMERICANS". You'll link directly to the Society of St. Andrew's
listing on the Pepsi Refresh Project website where you can vote once each day
throughout the month. The "idea" that
gets the most votes wins the money, so plan to vote for SoSA every day and tell
everyone you know to vote, too. On SoSA's homepage you can: opt-in for a daily
email reminder with a direct link to vote; get the number for texting your
vote; get a widget with the "vote" link to post to websites and
emails; find instructions for sharing the idea on your Facebook and Twitter
pages. For more information about

Pastor Lorenzo and Veronica Visit Next Week!
Pastor Lorenzo and Veronica and their family
 | Next week Pastor Lorenzo and Veronica will be visiting with clergy and lay leaders across the Capitol Area South District. Pastor Lorenzo serves the Methodist congregation in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. Last year the congregations of the district raised $20,000 to help build the first unit for the Methodist Church in San Luis. This is the only Methodist congregation in a city of over 2 million people in central Mexico. This year the Mexico Mission Team is challenging congregations or individuals to make pledges and gifts over a three year period as salary assistance for Pastor Lorenzo. Currently, Pastor Lorenzo has to work a second job to supplement his income as a pastor. The assistance from our district will enable Pastor Lorenzo to concentrate full time on helping build the ministry in San Luis and in two other congregations that he is serving. Click HERE to indicate your financial support for Pastor Lorenzo's salary support. Click HERE to see where you can meet and hear Pastor Lorenzo during his visit in the district.
