Mission and Vision of the CAS District
Our Mission:
The Mission of the Capitol Area South District is to encourage and equip United Methodist congregations in their mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
Our Vision
The vision of the Capitol Area South District is that all local churches are to be disciple-making centers that mirror the demographic composition of the community in which they are located in terms of age, ethnicity, and cultural background; and that the congregations continually grow and reach new people for Christ and strive to be open and inclusive of all God's children. Jim's Tool Box
CAS Congregations Feature Innovative/New Ministries
For this month's Tool Box, I decided to ask pastors in the district the question, "What are some new initiatives, programs, and/or ministries that your congregation has undertaken in the last year?"
I was pleased that I received several responses from a number of pastors around the district. This month and next, I will share with you some of the responses I received. Where I have them, I have linked the pastors' emails into the article so that you can contact the pastors and find out more about what is going on in the congregations that they serve.

Social Media for Faith Leader Workshop May 18
Nearly everywhere you turn you hear about Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube, but this is not a passing fad or just a big waste of time. On Tuesday, May 18, we will explore how these tools can extend the boundaries of traditional ministry, encourage learning, sharing and discussion and open another door into your local church. In our time together we will also explore how social media is transforming the discussion of theology and ministry in the church.
The Social Media Workshop for Faith Leaders only costs $15 for professionals (free for students) and includes dinner. All you need to bring is yourself and your laptop (borrow one if you have to!). This event will be held on the campus of Methodist Theological School in Ohio (3081 Columbus Pike, Delaware Oh).
