Capitol Area South Mission and Vision:
Festival of Sharing 09
Our Mission:
The Mission of the Capitol Area South District is to encourage and equip United Methodist congregations in their mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
Our Vision:
The vision of the Capitol Area South District is that all local churches are to be disciple-making centers that mirror the demographic composition of the community in which they are located in terms of age, ethnicity, and cultural background; and that the congregations continually grow and reach new people for Christ and strive to be open and inclusive of all God's children.

Training Sessions for Local Church Leaders to be Offered in February

Help KeyOn Saturday, February 27, the Capitol Area South District in cooperation with the Pohly Center for Supervision and Leadership Formation will offer two training events.  The training will be held at Crossroads UM Church, 1100 South Hague Ave, Columbus.  The morning session (9:00am to noon) will focus on the work of Staff/Pastor Parish Relations Committee.  This workshop will explore the roles and responsibilities of the committee per The Discipline and give practical suggestions for ways to improve the committee's overall ministry and effectiveness.  The workshop is intended for pastors, committee chairs and committee members. Bring as many members of your committee as possible.

The afternoon session (1:00pm to 4pm) will feature a workshop to help sharpen the skills of leaders on the Board of Trustees, the Committee on Finance, and the Nominations and Leadership Development Committee.  Supporting the church's mission and holding effective meetings will be explored in a large group format. Break-out sessions will provide guidance on the specific duties and ministry for each administrative committee.  The workshop is intended for committee chairs and members of the administrative committees.

Leadership for both training sessions will be provided by Roger and Marilyn Evans and Rev. Ed Wilder of the Pohly Center for Supervision and Leadership Formation at United Theological Seminary, Dayton, OH.

A lunch will be provided for those persons participating in both sessions.  The cost of the lunch will be five dollars at the door.
