A Message from the District Superintendent
Each year, the month of February is celebrated as African American History Month in the United States and Canada. This is a significant season in which the achievements of African Americans are remembered and celebrated. In his article this month, Hank reflects on the meaning of African American History Month and the heritage of the African American congregations of the Capitol Area South District.
Hank's article includes an invitation for other congregations to form partnerships in ministry with the African American churches in our district. You can read more by clicking HERE. |

Jim's Tool Box
How Are We Doing? Where Are We Going?
The questions in the title of this month's Tool Box are suggestive of the kinds of questions that all congregations need to ask from time to time -- actually on a regular basis. There are all kinds of tools and materials that congregations can use to get a handle on how they are doing and where they are going. I want to talk about four of those resources in this article of the Tool Box.

Jackson Area Ministry Gardening Program
Congregations and/or individuals from this annual conference donated seeds or financial contributions to the Jam Gardening Project (Green Thumb Gardening Project). Thanks to the generosity of churches and individuals etc. last summer 2,928 households were supplied seed potatoes, tomato plants and a variety of vegetable seeds. With the inventory of food banks, pantries etc. becoming increasingly limited, the concept of "Growing" ones produce becomes increasingly attractive/needed. The JAM Gardening Project encompasses 19 counties in southeast Ohio.
