I am excited to tell you that I am launching (finally) a BLOG on my website called Living an EQ Life©.Since starting my Emotional Intelligence practice practice in 1996, I have learned so much from so many. Now is the time to start writing about what I have learned. My intention for this BLOG is to focus on EQ application - specifically as it relates to Living an EQ Life©. If you are interested in sharing a Living an EQ Life© story, please contact me. I would be interested in talking to you about publishing it in future BLOGS. Read my first couple of posts and subscribe to Living an EQ Life©.

Greetings!
Margaret Mead
is quoted as saying, "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful,
committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing
that ever has."
I refer to this quote often because I experience it so frequently. This
past July, I was surrounded by 1,000 people who came together to raise
money for Sarcoma Cancer. This was my second year serving at Team
Leader for the Rein in Sarcoma Party in the Park event. I couldn't imagine when I would ever feel such warmth and compassion...and there it was.
The Race for Grace
took place less than 2 weeks later. It was a phenomenal expression of
love, compassion and demonstration of how 'a small group of thoughtful,
committed citizens can change the world.' We are a better world because
of Grace and her family and friends.
For me, Living an EQ Life© becomes real when we stand up and declare a
mission to help! It is the clarity of the vision and the purposeful
action that demonstrate Living an EQ Life©!
Warmly, Lisa |
Good Learning
Working with Strengths
If
you feel uncertain or awkward naming your strengths, want to use your
strengths more often, are in transition or are considering a career
shift, this workshop is a great place to start.
Research has proven that we make our greatest contributions and have the highest level of satisfaction and energy
when we use the strengths we have used repeatedly (perhaps unnoticed)
throughout our lives.
The Working with Strengths day-long workshop provides a structured process for you to reflect
on and share peak experiences from all aspects of your life. You will receive
feedback from others, clarify your key strengths in your own words, and
summarize their use and impact for networking purposes.
This process is
not an assessment or a list of characteristics or factors from a pre-determined
list. It is an opportunity to experience
the Dependable Strengths Articulation Process® from the Center for Dependable
Strengths, University of Washington, Seattle.
- When: Friday, Nov 6 8:30-4:30 (Registration deadline: Friday, Oct 23)
-
Where: Roseville, MN

EQ-i Certification Training
Emotional
Intelligence (EQ) is a critical competence for personal and
professional success. Help your clients lead a more successful and
satisfying life by developing their EQ.
The EQ-i (Emotional Quotient Inventory) is the first
validated assessment to measure emotional/social functioning. It is
being used by coaches and consultants worldwide to support life/work
coaching and mentoring, organization, leadership and team development.
Certification
training will teach you what you need to know to successfully
administer the EQ-i. The session is designed to provide hands-on
practice to help you internalize and strengthen your skill at
analyzing, interpreting and debriefing the EQ-i.
At the end of
EQ-i Certification, you will understand the Bar On model and concepts
of emotional intelligence as well as the science behind the instrument.

Good Books etc...
Check out Lisa's List for a larger selection of books etc.
I am always adding to this list, so be sure to visit often (and let me know what you are reading.)
Here are a few of my current favorites:
The Balance Within by Esther Sternberg (Author)
I have been following Esther Sternberg for quite some time and find her work to be quite interesting and helpful. If you enjoy listening to podcasts, I would recommend one called The Balance Within.
Since ancient times humans have felt intuitively that emotions and
health are linked, and recently there has been much popular speculation
about this notion. But until now, without compelling evidence, it has
been impossible to say for sure that such a connection really exists
and especially how it works. Now, that evidence has been discovered.
The Balance Within tells how researchers finally uncovered the elusive
mind-body connection and what it means for our health. In this
beautifully written book, Dr. Esther Sternberg, whose discoveries were
pivotal in helping to solve this mystery, provides first hand accounts
of the breakthrough experiments that revealed the physical mechanisms -
the nerves, cells, and hormones - used by the brain and immune system
to communicate with each other. She describes just how stress can make
us more susceptible to all types of illnesses, and how the immune
system can alter our moods. Read More...
Arriving at Your Own Door: 108 Lessons in Mindfulness by Jon Kabat-Zinn (Author)
About a year ago, I took a class called Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) that is based on the work of Jon Kabat-Zinn. This is a program that is offered through the Center for Spirituality and Healing at the University of Minnesota. What a gift this was! I have come back to these practices often. If you enjoy listening to podcasts, I would recommend one called Opening to our Lives. It is excellent.
Mindfulness opens us up to the possibility of being fully human and of
expressing the humane in our way of being. Within these 108 selections
lie messages of profound wisdom in a contemporary and practical form
that can lead to both healing and transformation. How we carry
ourselves will determine the direction the world takes We are the world
we inhabit. Our world is continuously being shaped by our participation
in everything around us and within us through mindfulness. Read More...

Good Resources!
Anybody that has ever worked 'independently' learns petty quickly that it is impossible to personally do everything that needs to be done to run a successful business. We must tap into additional resources from time to time so that we can do what we do best. Over the years, I have been fortunate to work with some incredibly talented people. I like to support them by passing their contact information along to people in my network. These people have my full endorsement - they are talented, knowledgeable and trustworthy. I am happy to give you a personal reference if you would like. Please call: 612.718.4389 or email. Website Design, Development and Promotion:John Byers, Byers Media522 E Howard St Ste 107

(206) 984-3840 Fax Email: jbyers@byersmedia.com I have know John for many years. I so appreciate his depth of knowledge and attention to details when it comes to website design and marketing. John designed the Crescendo Inc website and has served as an invaluable resource to support my 'low readiness' when it comes to technology (specifically web design and marketing).Administrative support and Project Management:Laurie Ann Taylor, CAST Consulting, LLC 1639 Mapmaker Drive Dacula, GA 30019 (770) 963-4185 Tel Email: laurieanntaylor@bellsouth.net
Laurie Ann and I have worked together virtually for close to a year now. Initially the thought of working long distance was a little hard to grasp but I figure if American Express can send customer service calls to India, I can send projects to Georgia! Laurie Ann is knowledgeable, efficient, accurate and incredibly pleasant to work with.Printer Sales and Service:Chris Sahr, Advanced Technology Systems255 East Roselawn Ave, Suite 45 St. Paul, MN 55117 (651) 489-6990 Tel (651) 489-6993 Fax Email: csahr@advtek.com I met Chris
about 5-6 years ago when I purchased my former Xerox printer from him.
I remember thinking at the time that he was extremely knowledgeable
about printers...but more than anything, his commitment to customer
service is top notch.
He comes to mind as a good resource because he has helped me solve fairly significant printer issues (that I caused) over the years. Chris is great at assessing the situation, giving me the options and walking
me through the pros and cons and, he is a really nice guy. |
Good Giving!
Social Responsibility and community service have been core values for Crescendo Inc. from the beginning. Since 1996, we have contributed financially, physically, emotionally and spiritually to many non-profit organizations in Minnesota and around the U.S in the names of our clients. We know that we have and continue to make a difference. For this reason, Crescendo Inc. rewards you for referrals by giving back to your community! When someone you refer to Crescendo Inc. completes EQ-i Certification Training, we make a contribution in your name to the non-profit organization of your choice. Good Feedback
"Excellence from start to finish"...that's how I would describe Lisa
Griebel and her EQi Training and Certification. As a recent
participant, this as one of the best training and development
experiences I have ever attended (and I've attended hundreds throughout
my career). When you combine her experience as a trainer and
facilitator, her expertise in the arena of Emotional Intelligence and
her commitment to creating a strong learning environment, you get
world-class results! Lisa exceeded my expectations in delivering the
knowledge, skills and tools needed to be successful with EQi."
~ Independent Consultant
"Lisa Griebel, EQ-I practitioner
and trainer, delivers with excellence. Lisa's EQ posture is one
of professionalism and authenticity, Lisa ignites others with her wealth of
knowledge surrounding Emotional Intelligence and models a participative
leadership approach in the EQ-I workshop format.
Lisa
creatively illustrates the facets of behavior associated with EQ and instills
an invaluable level of understanding and confidence. Lisa will
positively enhance and elevate an individual's repertoire of emotional
intelligence."
~ Leadership Coach & Consultant
"I was originally certified to use the EQ-i 5 years ago and
frequently use it in my consulting practice. Every time I administer the EQ-i,
I am reminded how robust the instrument is and how much more there is to learn.
Periodically, I seek Lisa's guidance on more challenging EQ-i interpretations.
Last year, I decided to attend one of her EQ-i training sessions as a refresh
and I am glad that I did. Even though I am EQ-i certified and use it
regularly, I learned more than I thought I would.
Lisa is a skilled trainer who has developed and
delivers a first-rate learning experience. Her knowledge and skill using
the EQ-i coupled with her attention to details is a clear benefit for all
participants. This is evident in the quality and practicality of the materials
she has developed and generously shares. She has a relaxed training style that
encourages participation and learning.
I went into the Refresh training hoping to learn more
about the competencies and left with that along with invaluable tools I have
been using ever since.
I am happy to recommend Lisa's EQ-i training program for
first-time certification or a refresh. It was a good investment at a good time."
~ Partner, Leadership Development Consulting
"Lisa Griebel is not only superbly experienced as an
EQ-I practitioner, she is also a master facilitator and teacher. She
approaches the entire learning experience totally committed to her
students and their learning. She approaches the subject of emotional
intelligence with keen insight developed over years of experience
working with the EQ-I in a broad variety of settings. She makes
learning fun, enjoyable, and relevant. If you want to learn how to use
this tool to help you in your area of practice, this is THE qualifying
workshop for you."
