One of the biggest innovations that we're working on at APTA world headquarters is on-line registration for all nationally ranking tournaments. With the Chicago Charities coming in November, we're introducing an easy-to-use and completely green tournament registration. This way you can focus on your forehand, not the U.S. Postal Service.

1. Use of a Continuous Motion is Allowed
The rule now reads that it is a loss of point if "A player deliberately carries or catches the ball in play on the paddle or deliberately touches it with the paddle more than once (i.e. any ball struck using a continuous motion is legal)."

Members Weigh In on the Lob "Bounce Out" Rule
Scott Mansager has suggested that the APTA stop penalizing great lobs by scoring a "bounce out" as either a let or a point won. Members are weighing in on the issue. At press time, the "noes" to change had a one vote edge over the "play a let" crowd and those endorsing "bounce outs that win" trailed the pack. More ...

Jim "Indiana Jones" McCready, Bob "I-know-who's-in-that-photo" Brown, and cohorts discover a treasure trove of platform tennis artifacts in their recent expeditions into photo albums, scrapbooks, and cardboard boxes.
