Greetings!
Feed is coming next Tuesday so we need your order by this Friday, August 14, 2009. Pickup day is Wednesday, August 19th. Remember to come on the day of pick up so I can keep the price down for you. I am happy to be flexible for Waldron Islanders or special circumstances but my customers have to walk around the feed until it is gone so we really appreciate prompt pick-up!
I have received orders from the following people so those listed do not need to send another email unless you would like to adjust your order:
Ernest - three bags layer mash
Andres - one bag cracked corn
Johnny - two bags layer mash
Thor - two bags layer mash
Steve - two bags layer mash and one bag hen scratch
Tami - two bags layer mash

Thanks for your constant support of our little operation. I love having this shop and am glad to provide this service to anyone who want only the best for their furred and feathered friends. Don't forget to check out Compost It's Blog so you can stay on the cutting edge of local economy. I keep past emails archived there for reference, too.

Getting the Lady Ruth Ready For Fishing |
Matt is back from fishing. I have made a little blog for him so you can keep updated on your local fisherman. I have posted a video about sea lice. It is animated and fun for the whole family. Everyone should watch it. It is quite possibly one of the main reasons for the low abundance of Frasier River sockeye. There are masses of fish farms directly in the migratory path of small fry heading out to sea. The San Juan Island sockeye are part of the Frasier River run so we depend on healthy stocks for a commercial fishery down here. Alas, abundance is very low so we will not be fishing for sockeye in the Puget Sound this year. Matt has brought home Bristol Bay sockeye that he caught this year. This is available to you. Matt went fishing last night in Bellingham Bay and caught a couple of King Salmon, not enough for all of us yet, but there is a way to taste this fish. Matt is doing a fillet demonstration at 11:00 a.m. at the Ag Tent on Friday of the fair so that is a good time to watch and learn and hopefully taste a snippet of heaven. Madden Surbaugh will be also be serving Matt's fish in his restaurant, Steps. This provides you with a great opportunity to eat local local. Money is precious and should be spent wisely. Eating at Steps is money well-spent. Take time to go out and eat a special meal at Steps and support our community!
On Wednesday, the 19th, if all goes well, Matt will have humpies (pinks) and kings (chinooks)
Kings $8.00/lb (head off dressed)
Pinks $7/each (head off dressed)
Pinks $5/each round (embarrassed)
Frozen Sockeye Fillets (Matt's from Bristol Bay) $9/lb
In regards to the sockeye fillets, Matt says, "These are my own fish handled with care, processed at a small processing plant in Alaska (another small family business)."
Matt says, "These pink salmon are bled and iced (as always) and well-cared for and because of the care I give to these fish, they are an excellent fish and the price is just unbeatable."
Kings range between 7 to 15 pounds, dressed weight and come from Samish Bay.
Pinks reange between 3 to 4 pounds, dressed weight and come from Skagit Bay.
This all depends on Matthews skill as a fisherman. Matthew says, "It depends on the will of God because the skill is there."
