Will April Showers Bring Your Company May Flowers?
How can organization help you weather a stormy economic climate?
Springtime rain showers and thunderstorms can quash the best-laid plans for a successful outdoor event. The same could be said of the current economic climate on businesses' plans for success.
Decreased revenue caused by slower sales or clients postponing or canceling jobs, and loss of morale in employees (and yourself) can cause stress and anxiety and compound existing financial struggles.
Despite the aforementioned stress, there can be a silver lining to the cloudy skies. "Unexpected downtime" can be used to make improvements to your business operations which can ultimately enable you to emerge stronger than before.
Instead of worrying and panicking, consider doing the following action items which usually never get done because we "don't have time":
1) While it won't generate immediate revenue, identifying time-wasting clutter "hot spots" and subsequently reorganizing your work space can help to improve work flow and thus increase productivity.
2) "Sorting and purging" your email address book and client files and entering recently-met contacts into your database can spark marketing and networking ideas, as well as help you develop a "warm call" list of people to get in touch with.
3) Write down all the business ideas and things you always intended to do "when I have the time," prioritize them, and start incorporating them into your schedule. You might also use the time to expand your horizons by learning new skills or information that can help you generate new business, such as learning how to utilize social networking.
". . . life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it."

What Do I Do About. . . ? In Its Place answers your questions about organizing change-of-season clothes.
Q: There are so many clothes everywhere that my house looks like a laundromat gone awry. How can I get all this under control?
A: 1) Grab an empty bag for donations, head to the room that frustrates you the most, and find (or make) a clear surface. Go through all the clothes, sorting them into piles by category (short sleeve, long sleeve, pants, etc.) and placing any "too big" or "too small" items in the donation bag.
2) Once you've sorted all the clothes, determine the most appropriate storage location for each category - in dresser drawers, on shelves, hanging from the closet rod, or in a
3) Store off-season clothes (labeling the containers helps remind you what's inside) in a location that doesn't take up "prime real estate."
P.S. Repeat steps 1-3 in each room of your home with an over-abundance of clothing.
P.P.S. Don't forget to take the donation bag to your car, and then to your local charitable organization!
