MOM As An SOS At Work?
Making Objectives Measurable can be a lifesaver.
It's easy to get caught up in the day-to-day activities of trying to get things done at work, but it can be hard to take a step back and look at things from a different perspective. You might say "we need to increase sales" or "we need to get organized," but what do those really mean and how will you know if you've accomplished them?
Prior to birth, and afterward, you reach and pass certain benchmarks in growth and development. The same can apply to your work life. If you organize your business, objectives, and benchmarks as you grow and change, you'll have a clearer vision of how well you're getting to where you want to be, and where you need to make changes along the way. . .
1) If you hear yourself saying something vague like "my office needs to be more organized," ask yourself more questions to identify specifically what you would like to see be different or better.
2) Once you've identified that objective, determine why that objective is important to you and/or what benefit or payoff accomplishing it will bring you.
3) Determine what actions you will take next and when, and how (and how often) you will objectively measure your progress. Organize your priorities and your schedule accordingly.

What Can I Do About. . . ? In Its Place answers your questions about organizing bedroom closets.
Q: My closets are overflowing with clothes but I can never find anything to wear. How can I deal with this mountain of material?
A: 1) Think about your current lifestyle and daily activities. This will give you a better idea about the types of clothing and accessories you need, as well as quantities. For example, if you've transitioned to working out of a home office or you're now working at home full time raising your children, chances are you don't need the sixteen suits hanging in your closet.
2) Once you've identified your needs, sort your clothes into categories by season. Then, place any items that don't fit or that no longer fit your lifestyle into a bag for donating. Also have a bag designated for items that need to be dry cleaned, hemmed, or repaired.
3) Once you're done "sorting and purging," it's time to return everything to your closets and dresser drawers. Make sure to keep similar items together and to maximize use of the space by utilizing the most appropriate storage containers and accessories.
P.S. Don't forget to put the donation and dry cleaning bags in your car and schedule a time to drop them off!
