Weigand Mentoring Program
We're excited to launch our unique mentoring program that will utilize veteran Weigand Scholars to help those who are following in their footsteps. Our program will aim to pair current scholars with past scholars and recent graduates with alumni who have been practicing for three or more years.
Claudette Glenn, Director of the Weigand Trust says, "This is a natural 'next step' in extending the Weigand community. We're finally to a place where we actually have more scholars out in the workplace than we do in school."
Tim Belsan, Weigand Scholar 2006-2009, has agreed to help organize the program. "As students, we embraced the concept that being a Weigand Scholar didn't end at graduation, and now that I've graduated I am excited to help build that concept. I have a passion for seeing Weigand graduates remain involved and contributing to the program. Graduates are an invaluable resource to the Weigand Family, and I'm excited to help initiate steps that will maximize the potential benefits of an already successful network. While the Weigand Scholarships are already considered the premiere and most sought-after scholarships for Kansans, I'm confident the mentoring program will add even more to the reputation." Watch for more information soon! We WILL be contacting you! |

Thomas Ruane
Weigand Scholar 2006, KU
I joined Shughart Thomson & Kilroy directly from law school. Early this year, the Shughart firm merged with the Polsinelli firm, also of Kansas City, to form Polsinelli Shughart PC.
When I joined Shughart Thomson & Kilroy, there were approximately 170 attorneys, and the firm had offices in KC, Overland Park, Denver, Phoenix, St. Joseph (Mo.) and Springfield. STK was certainly a large firm, but nowhere near as large as Polsinelli Shughart is now.The firm now has approximately 500 lawyers, and offices in KC, Overland Park, Topeka, Denver, Phoenix, St. Joseph (Mo.), Springfield (Mo.), Chicago, St. Louis, Washington, DC, Wilmington (Delaware) and Edwardsville (IL).
