Gazetting of AgriBEE Sector Codes for Public Comment

AgriBEEThe Agricultural Business Chamber (ABC) welcomes the release of the AgriBEE Sector Codes for public comment, as gazetted on Monday, 26 March 2012. Through its integral involvement in the AgriBEE Charter Council, the ABC was very much party to the process leading to the gazetting of the AgriBEE Sector Codes and thus endorses the process facilitated by the AgriBEE Charter Council.  The ABC will now actively engage with its members to determine the potential impact of the AgriBEE Sector Codes on the progress to be made by agribusinesses in implementing their B-BBEE and transformation strategies.  The ABC advises agribusinesses to carefully peruse the linked gazetted AgriBEE Sector Codes and to participate in the ABC's processes in establishing its position and comments thereon.  Please click here to download the ABC media release»

BEE Implementation in Agribusiness Sector Survey

The ABC is actively involved in negotiating for a regulatory environment, with regard to BEE, which is enabling and enhancing towards agribusiness to implement their BEE strategies and achieve their growth and business goals, also to the benefit of the country and its people.

To do this, we urgently need information from members to enable us to sufficiently represent your needs - now more than ever, considering the B-BBEE Amendment Bill, as well as the AgriBEE Sector Codes, that have just recently been gazetted for public comments. Hence, we're doing this survey. Click here for more information and to complete questionnaire online»  or click here to download the questionnaire in PDF format» and fax to 012 807 5600.

BUSA Comment on Proposed Labour Law Amendments

Law_4While Business Unity SA (BUSA) welcomes the confirmation that government will not ban labour broking, BUSA is disappointed that the Cabinet has approved the Basic Conditions of Employment Amendment Bill and the Labour Relations Amendment Bill, without conducting a Regulatory Impact Assessment (RIA), nor waiting for a final Nedlac Report on these matters. There are still significant areas of disagreement on the amendments beyond labour broking. Download media release»
